Young Writers Camp for
Middle School Students
Leander ISD Young Writers Camp is designed for writers of all abilities and attitudes! 21st
century literacy and communication skills require practice and application opportunities,
and writing camp helps all our young writers grow in their craft to meet the demands of an
ever-changing world. Camp instructors will provide small group instruction and one-onone conferencing to take writers to the next level by building skills relevant to their writing
proficiency both inside and outside of school.
WHO:
The camp is open to students
entering 6th-8th grades in Fall
2015. Writers of ALL
abilities are welcome!

Enrollment: Space is limited. Applications
will be accepted in the order they are received
so please register early. Registration must be
submitted by July 10th.
Transportation: Leander ISD will provide
transportation for this event. Please select
your bus stop from the list provided on the
district’s Web page.
Snack: A healthy snack and drink will be
made available for purchase daily during a
break. Students who qualify for free or
reduced-lunch will receive a free or reducedpriced snack. Students may also bring snacks
from home
Student Conduct: All policies and
procedures stated in LISD’s Student and
Parent Handbook (www. leanderisd.org) are
in effect during summer writing camp. As a
part of our efforts to ensure a drug-free
school, LISD uses trained dogs to sniff out
the current presence of concealed, prohibited
items, illicit substances, as well as alcohol.
Any major infraction, i.e. tobacco, alcohol,
drug infractions, will result in immediate
disciplinary action, which may include
removal. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.
Insufficient Enrollment: Camps with
insufficient enrollment will be canceled, and
the registration fee will be refunded to the
credit card used to register.
