CONTENT PRODUCTION AND FINANCING VENTURE
REMSTAR STUDIOS TO CREATE CONTENT
LOS ANGELES/MONTREAL – April 7, 2015 – Montreal-based financier and distributor Remstar
Group has launched a content production and financing venture with Los Angeles-based film
and television producer and executive, Clark Peterson. The new entity, Remstar Studios, with
offices in Los Angeles and Montreal, will co-finance, develop and produce independent feature
films and television projects. Clark Peterson, a partner in the venture, will manage the day-today operations of Remstar Studios, working closely with Remstar Group CEO Maxime Remillard.
On the film side, the company will focus on star-driven projects in the sub-$10 million budget
category, while the TV side will target series with international financing components.
Clark Peterson is a prolific film producer, having produced such films as “Monster” for which
Charlize Theron won the Oscar® in the Best Actress category, “Rampart” with Woody Harrelson,
and the upcoming “Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet,” starring Liam Neeson and Salma Hayek. On the
TV side, he has developed TV series with a number of US broadcasters, including two pilots
currently in production at CBS. One of the pilots, “Taxi-22” is based on a hit French Canadian
series of the same name.
Remstar ensured the Canadian success of a number of productions as a distributor, including
films like “Dallas Buyers Club”, a film by Jean-Marc Vallée winner of 3 Academy-Awards®; “Don
Jon” from writer-director Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who also starred along with Scarlet Johansson;
and “The Wrestler” directed by Daren Aronofsky. Remstar Films next releases include Good Kill
starring Ethan Hawke, Dark Places based on Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn’s novel, as well as
Blood Father, starring Mel Gibson.
Maxime Rémillard has been an active producer for years on Canadian and international projects,
his most recent work developing, financing and producing “Polytechnique” directed by Denis
Villeneuve. Since 2008, Remstar Group has been an active player in the television landscape as
the owner of the French-language broadcast network V, which operates primarily in Quebec, as
well as the French-language speciality channels MusiquePlus and Musimax.
