ABSTRACT:
The event will present methodological and design aspects to promote the energy efficiency
and the comfort in public spaces. Thus, if the design of a popular urban place is changed,
human thermal bioclimate on that place may be seriously affected (Matzarakis 2012).
In order to analyse urban bioclimate and climate, several input and output parameters are
required. The quantification of thermal bioclimate assessment methods, based on the human
energy balance, builds the basis of all the known thermal indices.
Prof. Matzarakis, focusing on Republic Med aims, will show the application possibilities of the
simulation models, including urban climate issues for micro scale. In addition mitigation and
adaptation possibilities based on human thermal comfort can be analyzed and quantified
based on measured or simulated data by regional climate models.
