RELEASE DATE

FATBOY SLIM
YOU’VE COME A LONG WAY, BABY
FATBOY SLIM’s debut album, ‘Better Living Through Chemistry’, was one of the surprises of the big beat revolution
of 1996 - an eclectic blowout, all tracked to thunderous loops and masterminded by Norman Cook, a former member
of the British pop band the Housemartins. It might not have been as startlingly fresh as the Chemical Brothers, but
the hard-hitting beats and catchiness, not to mention consistency, of ‘Better Living...’ was a shock, and it raised
expectations for FATBOY SLIM’s second album, ‘You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby’.
And that record itself was something of a surprise, since it not only exceeded the expectations set by the debut, but
came damn close to being the definitive big beat album, rivaling the Chemicals’ second record, ‘Dig Your Own Hole’.
The difference is, Cook is a record geek with extensive knowledge and eclectic tastes. His juxtapositions (the album
swings from hip-hop to reggae to jangle pop, and then all combines into one sound) are wildly original, even if the
music itself doesn’t break through the confines of big beat.
Then again, when a record is this forceful and catchy, it doesn’t need to break new stylistic ground - the pleasure is in
hearing a master work. And there’s no question that FATBOY SLIM is a master of sorts. ‘You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby’
is a seamless record, filled with great imagination, unexpected twists and turns, huge hooks, and great beats. It’s the
kind of record that gives big beat a good name.

WE NEVER LEARNED TO LIVE
SILENTLY, I THREW THEM SKYWARD
Following a demo tape and a split 7” with the similarly epic Human Future, Holy Roar Records was left floored by WE
NEVER LEARNED TO LIVE’s enthrallingly intense live representations of their recorded work to date. Subsequently,
we now we arrive at debut album ‘Silently, I Threw Them Skyward’.
Whilst perhaps now a cliché, this really is a journey of a record – unafraid to be gloriously melodic, catchy and direct
(‘shadows in hibernation’), spookily cinematic (‘you will sleep now, Yourko’) or serenely heavy (the dual/duel bass
guitar driven ‘tasting paralysis’). Expertly woven together by Sean Mahon’s vocal delivery (alternating between brittle
anguish and reflective melodies) and lyrics - ‘Silently, I Threw Them Skyward’ is an intricate puzzle that will hurt,
punish, comfort and uplift. Like all the best music should.
Whilst some bands spend their entire existence trying to convey emotion, WE NEVER LEARNED TO LIVE have
harnessed an effortless emotional weight with their music. In a sea of bands desperate to sound more troubled
and angst-ridden than the last, WE NEVER LEARNED TO LIVE have one simple advantage up their collective sleeve:
sincerity. Sure, they manage to try and hide behind gloriously ornate, obtuse artwork and poetic song titles, but at
the beating heart of this band is tangibly raw, universal emotional content.

ROCKY VOTOLATO
HOSPITAL HANDSHAKES
Seattle singer-songwriter ROCKY VOTOLATO is back with his eighth studio album. The new full length, ‘Hospital
Handshakes’, is a surprisingly positive explosion of energy that examines themes of healing from trauma,
overcoming depression, spiritual longing and finding true meaning in life.
It also marks a turning point in VOTOLATO’s career, the end result of a tumultuous transition that began after the
release of his 2012 album, ‘Television of Saints’ with the songwriter second-guessing his gift and considering
retiring from music. “It became painful for me to make music,” VOTOLATO recalls. “I was hemmed in by the
construct of who I thought I was supposed to be and I stopped believing in myself as a writer.”
ROCKY VOTOLATO
HOSPITAL HANDSHAKES
Following his final tour with mewithoutYou supporting the record, realizing that he hadn’t written any new music in
over a year, VOTOLATO decided to take some time off the road. It was then, in the summer of 2014, that the creative
floodgates finally opened and he recommitted himself to his music with a renewed passion and sense of purpose.
STREET DATE: 26.06.15
LABEL: NO SLEEP RECORDS
GENRE: ALTERNATIVE

For his latest effort, VOTOLATO once again teamed up with producer Chris Walla (Death Cab For Cutie guitarist and
producer). Walla says, “This collection of songs hit me really hard, and at a really good time. It’s shaping up to be a
visceral and tactile album; the band is incredible, and ROCKY’s writing is spring tight right now.”
Collaborating with a standout cast of Seattle musicians, including his brother Cody Votolato on electric guitar (The
Blood Brothers), Eric Corson on bass (The Long Winters), Andy Lum on drums (Craft Spells/My Goodness) and Casey
Foubert contributing Aux instrumentation (Sufjan Stevens), the album promises to be unlike anything he has released
before. At the core of VOTOLATO’s new music is the same earnest, impassioned, seeking voice, but now with a little
more perspective, the product of self-realization hard-earned from a period of darkness and doubt.
“I’m writing about trauma,” VOTOLATO says. “A lot of the material I’m working with is dark and scary, but I know
there is light and healing coming through in the process, and I hope that will show up in the music as well.”

THE ROLLING STONES
FROM THE VAULT – THE MARQUEE – LIVE IN 1971
“From The Vault” is a series of live concerts from THE ROLLING STONES archive which are getting their first
official release. “The Marquee – Live In 1971” is the latest addition to the series. The show was filmed at London’s
legendary Marquee club on March 26th 1971, shortly after the finish of the band’s 1971 UK tour and about a
month before the release of the “Sticky Fingers” album in late April. Mick Taylor was now fully integrated into the
group and the band had used the tour to showcase some of the tracks from the forthcoming album. The show at
the Marquee was filmed for American television and four songs from the “Sticky Fingers” album were featured,
including the rarely performed “I Got The Blues”. The footage has now been carefully restored and the sound has
been newly mixed by Bob Clearmountain for this first official release of the show.

OHHMS

OHHMS
COLD
OHHMS return to tectonic action with the vast ‘Cold’ LP.
The UK band has had a monumental year since the release of their debut EP ‘Bloom’ in 2014. Whilst this may sound
over-the-top, there are indisputable facts. That record was constructed of two songs, clocking in at a combined 30+
minutes. Despite this, the band still garnered a full 15 minute play on the Radio 1 Rock Show, offers to play Temples,
Arc Tan Gent, Fear and Hevy festivals, as well as shows with The Skull, Conan, The Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell,
Hey Colossus, Earthmass, Hierophant, Slabdragger, Bastions and their own headline tour. Not a bad start.
Now the band is back with ‘Cold’, another two monolithic tracks, once again clocking in beyond half an hour. That,
however, is where the similarities to ‘Bloom’ end. ‘Cold’ presents a stunning evolution to OHHMS’ progressive stoner
doom rock. Musically, within ‘The Anchor’ and ‘Dawn of the Swarm’, OHHMS keep exploring new avenues in the
cannon of lumbering stoner rock, depth-charge doom, classic rock and psychedelia. Vocalist Paul Waller meanwhile
displays a huge leap forward in scope and confidence – alternating between sumptuously deep gravelly singing,
Viking-warrior bellows and roar-is-war call to arms.
Once again leaning on Ian Sadler to record/mix, and Brad Boatright to master the record, with art stunningly realised
by Black Sails Design, this is a band poised to prove to everyone that ‘Bloom’ was no mere fluke or one off. OHHMS
are still, really, just exploring the possibilities of what they could go on to do… and that is a terrifyingly exciting
prospect. ‘Cold’ is another cast-iron foundation laid for a truly fascinating band…

SAM DUCKWORTH

SAM DUCKWORTH
AMAZING GRACE
For a decade SAM DUCKWORTH existed (musically) under the opinion splitting moniker Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.
In these ten years he amassed four albums (two top 30) and four top 40 singles. He graced the Pyramid stage at
Glastonbury, Mainstage at Reading/Leeds and Bestival, closed the Astoria and bought emo to the Congo and Nigeria as
part of Damon Albarn’s Africa Express. However he soon got sick of explaining what the band name meant (secret: it
didn’t mean much) and in September 2014 he laid his cape to rest with a celebration at Kentish Town Forum.
SAM DUCKWORTH returns with ‘Amazing Grace’, the most intensely personal, emotional project that he has ever
been involved with. Forget everything you know about Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly - this is SAM DUCKWORTH at his
most breathtaking.
The past few years have been an interesting one for Mr DUCKWORTH. A near fatal bout of waterborne parasites
threw things off course for a bit. Throughout the recovery he assembled a cast of over 40 musicians to create the
stunning ‘Amazing Grace’ LP, named after his Hoxton Recording Studio, with the renewed sense of wit and vigour
that bought him to prominence in his early twenties. His latest single ‘1986’ was released as a free download to
coincide with a European tour with Andy Burrows. It showcases a modern political artist not afraid to wear his heart
on his sleeve. “People always talk of second chances, but I guess this really is the case for me. Getting ill was a
chance to learn and to streamline. I’m ready and raring to get back to doing what I love the most; playing shows and
making recordings.”

GHOST KEY
THE THINGS I AM NOT
US hardcore band GHOST KEY are back with a new EP called ‘The Things I Am Not’. GHOST KEY’s follow up to their
debut album ‘Winter’ marks a triumphant return for the band. Armed with an arsenal of ferocious, heavy riffs and
attacking vocals, the group delivers a sonic assault on the senses with four songs that get straight to the point.
“For the first couple years of playing in GHOST KEY, I was met with a lot of criticism,” explains vocalist Austin
O’Brien. “People close to me continuously put me down because I wasn’t following the more traditional path of a
young adult. Fast forward a couple years and those people have seen that I’m happy and things are looking up. They
assumed that they could just waltz back into my life and ask for forgiveness and that’s where the inspiration for
‘Judgement’ came from. If you can’t stand by my side when things are tough, you can’t stand by my side at all.”
“With the new record we wanted to go in a heavier direction, both lyrically and sonically,” says bassist Ryan Murphy.
“We all have a pretty wide musical palette and so we really wanted that to shine through. Above all else, we wanted
to remain as honest and real as possible. The lyrics are incredibly personal and we believe the ambience of the
music complements them well. These are the best songs we’ve ever written.”
