The rebound of dollar pressures gold, support from risk aversion is limited
The recent economic data is disappointing, while the labor market conditions
index (LMCI) released yesterday was weak. However, investors tended to be
more optimistic. US dollar stopped falling, and rebounded for three days, which
limited the advance of precious metals. Meanwhile, Greece crisis cautch
attention again, as risk aversion supported the market, but not too much. Now
gold had the support from $1180, and consolidated within the range. Bullish
and bearish investors still balanced in power, as the market was lack of clear
direction. Recommend to wait and see today.

Trading Strategy
Precious metals all fell this Monday. Gold futures down 0.5% to 1183.00. Silver
futures down 0.92% to 16.31. Platinum futures down 1.42% to 1127.3.
Palladium futures down 2.73% to 780.45.
Let us review our plans on palladium and spot gold. Spot gold opened at 1190.2
and reached a day high at 1192 and a day low around 1179.1. Our plan is to
short it at 1188.4 targeting 1179 and a stop loss at 1193.1. The position was
filled first. If it reached our target price today, we will act according to our plan.
If not, we recommend to close the position at today’s closing price.
As for palladium, the most actively traded palladium futures of June 2015
opened at 800 with a day high at 802.35 and day low at 771 before ending at
780.45. It dropped a lot yesterday, erasing the advance, and lost 5, 10 and
50-day SMAs. But it was well supported by 20-day SMA. Concerning about the
high volatility, we do not recommend to open new positions.
