Audition Information Auditions will be held on Wednesday, August 26th between 5:00-9:00 pm. Dancers should audition with their own age group unless otherwise instructed. If you are interested in auditioning for RDC, but are unable to attend the August 26th tryout, please contact the Artistic Director to arrange for a private evaluation. Dancers should be prepared to learn and perform combinations in ballet & jazz. Dancers will also be evaluated on flexibility, turns (pirouettes), jumps across the floor (jetes) and performance ability. Though not required, dancers are highly encouraged to attend our Audition Clinics on Monday, August 24th & Tuesday, August 25th. During the clinics, dancers will have the opportunity to review dance technique and gain helpful audition advice. AUDITION BALLET & JAZZ COMBINATIONS WILL NOT BE TAUGHT UNTIL THE DAY OF THE ACTUAL AUDITION. Audition Attire: Dancers should arrive in a black, spaghetti-strap leotard and pink, tan or black tights with pink ballet shoes and tan slip-on jazz shoes. Please no shorts, pants or skirts for the audition. Hair should be pulled back securely in a ballet bun. Dancers will be judged on audition appearance. Please plan on arriving at least 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time for check-in and to receive your audition number. Please reserve your space! Company Description: Members of the Reverie Dance Companies (RDC) represent the best of Reverie Dance Academy. The goal of Reverie Dance Company is to offer our dancers the opportunity to perform as often as possible throughout the year! In addition to performing in the annual Showcase Performance in June, RDC members will perform at Buffalo Grove Days (Labor Day weekend), two to three Holiday Shows (December), two Conventions/Competitions per year and one to two additional competitions per year. The exact competition schedule will not be finalized until late-fall. All performances, conventions and competitions are mandatory. Our 2015-2016 RDC Plan includes FOURTEEN Companies: Level Companies: Itty-Bitty Company (Ages 5-7) Petite Company (Ages 6-9) Mini Company (Ages 7-11) Junior Company (Ages 9-12) Intermediate Company (Ages 10-13) Pre-Teen Company (Ages 11-15) Teen Company (Ages 13-18) Senior Company (14+) Pre-Professional Company (Ages 10-18) Elective Companies: *NEW* Mini Musical Theatre Jazz Company (6-11) Mini Tap Company (6-11) Tap Company (10-18) Musical Theatre Jazz Company (10-18) *NEW* Ballet Company (All Ages) Dancers and their parents will be asked prior to auditioning which companies they would like to be considered for. Please note, the age groupings listed above are subject to change after auditions take place. Company placement is based primarily on dance technique/ability, not age. Dancers must participate in a Level Company in order to qualify for an Elective Company. We also may add or remove groups based on necessity. Commitment: RDC members are expected to take their participation in the program seriously. Dancers with poor class or rehearsal attendance/participation may be removed from choreography or asked to leave the program at any time. Added rehearsal fees may apply in order to adjust choreography. Class Requirements: Itty-Bitty Company Members – must attend their weekly 1.00 hour rehearsal and at least one weekly Ballet Technique Class. Petite Company Members – must attend their weekly 1.25 hour rehearsal, at least one weekly Ballet Technique Class and a weekly Jumps & Turns class. Mini, Junior, Intermediate, Pre-Teen, Teen & Senior Company Members – must attend their weekly 1.25 hour rehearsals (2 rehearsals per week), at least one weekly Ballet Technique Class, a weekly Jumps & Turns Class and an elective class (Jazz, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Tap or Musical Theatre Jazz). *please note: the above listed requirements are the bare-minimum. The majority of RDC dancers attempt to take as many classes as scheduling and family budget will allow. Pre-Professional Company Members – The Pre-Professional Program is for the advanced-level performer committed to making dance a part of their future. The Pre-Pro program will run Monday-Thursday from 4:15pm-7:15pm and will include daily ballet class, daily jumps/turns class and daily company rehearsal time. Pre-Pro Company members will be allowed to take an unlimited amount of technique classes beyond their Pre-Professional requirements at no additional tuition cost (during the regular school year). Pre-Pro dancers will be on a monthly payment plan of $575.00 per month (Sept-June), which will include all technique class tuition fees (this is a 45% discount!!). This does not include costume fees, competition/convention fees, private lessons, summer rehearsals/classes or tuition for any siblings in the RDA program. If a Pre-Pro dancer chooses to participate in any additional Reverie Company, an added rehearsal fee will apply. Musical Theatre Jazz Company Members – must attend their weekly 1.25 hour rehearsals (2 rehearsals per week), at least one weekly Ballet Technique Class, a weekly Jumps & Turns Class and one weekly Jazz or Musical Theatre Jazz class. Tap Company Members – must attend their weekly 1.25 hour rehearsals (2 rehearsals per week), at least one weekly Ballet Technique Class, a weekly Jumps & Turns Class and one weekly Tap class. Ballet Company Members – must attend their weekly 1.25 hour rehearsals (2 rehearsals per week), at least one weekly Ballet Technique Class, a weekly Jumps & Turns Class and one weekly elective class. Mini Musical Theatre Jazz Company Members - must attend their weekly 1.00 hour rehearsal, at least one weekly Ballet Technique Class, a weekly Jumps & Turns Class and one weekly Jazz or Musical Theatre Jazz class. Mini Tap Company Members - must attend their weekly 1.00 hour rehearsal, at least one weekly Ballet Technique Class, a weekly Jumps & Turns Class and one weekly Tap class. Tuition / Financial Commitment: The following is a list of fees you may expect throughout the dance season. Please note, these fees are not definite, they are approximations for personal budgeting purposes. (Full-priced lessons are $149-$160 per eightweek session.) All pricing is subject to change. Convention/Competition Fees: Each convention varies in cost. The average fee for a 2-3 day convention is $250-$350. RDC attends two conventions per year. Competition fees vary as well. The average fee is $35-$45 per dancer, per routine. We typically compete with two-four dances per company, per competition. Costume Fees: Costume fees range between $50-$70 per dance routine. Studio-owned costumes are rented out to the dancers for no charge. We only ask that you pay for any necessary alterations and/or dry cleaning services. Team Uniform: $200 per dancer (mandatory). This fee includes the company jacket, earrings and hair piece. This is due at the time of acceptance in to the company. Miscellaneous Company Fees: Other fees may include headshot and group photos, team-bonding activity fees, showcase tickets, travel/hotel fees for families, etc. Again, all listed prices are estimates, and are subject to change.
