can be used to switch on the power supply of the 1-phase electric motor,
provided the following conditions are met:
r RSU limit switch unit 501102 (230, 1-phase, >60mA);
r 1-phase, 220-230V power supply;
r Maximum 1.2A motor current;
r RC circuits are applied with the RSU working switches (250V, 0.033mF0.1mF, 100W);
r The neutral conductor (N) of the power supply must be connected via the
safety switches of the RSU limit switch unit.
Failure to meet the conditions for switching on
the power supply of the RSU limit switch system
may cause system damage and/or
create hazardous situations.
DANGER

Replacement of the RSU limit switch system is now
complete.
13
Check that the RSU limit switch system is functioning
properly by driving the RW motor gearboxes in both
end positions.
WARNING
To readjust the limit switch system, follow the

RSU limit switch system installation
The following describes the steps for adjusting the RSU limit switch system of the RW motor gearbox.
Current and voltage range
The contacts in the switches for the Ridder RSU limit switch system can be connected to the following
currents:
r 24V-AC, currents 60 mA to 130 mA;
r 230V, current to 1.2 A.
Ridder RSU limit switch system
The Ridder RSU limit switch system is a linear switch system, specifically designed for use in RW
motor gearboxes. The limit switch system is driven by the output shaft of the motor gearbox via a
secondary transmission. The number of revolutions of the output shaft can be set between a starting
and ending position. The maximum range equates to 86 revolutions of the output shaft.
Delivery
The RSU limit switch system will not have been adjusted on delivery. The adjusting rings (3) can
be moved freely round the milled nuts (2). This means that the range of the drive in both rotational
directions is not limited and also prevents a switch system failure due to outside operation.
How it works
The main shaft of the motor gearbox drives the wire shaft (1) of the RSU limit switch system via a
secondary transmission. When running, the switch followers (4) will move along the threaded shaft
as it rotates. The friction between the threaded shaft and the switch follower pushes the setscrew (a)
lightly against one of the two switch springs (which one it will be depends on the direction of rotation).
When a switch follower reaches the end of the threaded shaft, it will change its linear motion and rotate
with the threaded shaft. The setscrew (a) then pushes against the switch spring, causing it to deflect
and trip a duty switch (ES11 or ES12). This in turn causes a signal that activates the relay, stopping
the motor gearbox. Should a relay or duty switch fail, then a safety switch (ES21 or ES22) will also be
tripped by the switch spring. This causes a signal that activates a safety relay, stopping the controller
and also thereby the motor gearbox. This prevents consequential damage to the system.

Connection
When connecting the Ridder RSU limit switch system, please refer to the wiring diagrams provided for
this purpose.
Setting
The end positions are set as follows:
r Rotate the main shaft of the motor gear box system to bring the system to the end position
(completely open or completely closed) and determine which duty switch (ES11 or ES12) should be
tripped.
r The milled nut (2) can easily be screwed by hand along the threaded shaft (1). The switch follower
(4) also moves along the threaded shaft. Turn the milled nut on the appropriate side, “hand tight” up
to the stop (7).
r Now rotate the adjusting ring (3) over the milled nut just far enough to trip the duty switch.
r Then fasten the adjusting ring with setscrews (a and b) firmly on the milled nut. The adjusting ring
can no longer be rotated over the milled nut.
Repeat the previous steps to adjust the limit switch system for the opposite direction of rotation.
WARNING
Always check the operation of the limit switch system
after setting the two end positions!
CAUTION
Always prevent overrunning of the adjusted limits when operating
the motor gearbox manually (with hexagon in the electric motor).
This will damage the limit switch system!
