2014-2015 BBHS School Board Meeting March 16, 2015 Meeting was called to order by Mr. Ridder, Principal and opened with a prayer led by Fr. Reinersman. Roll call was taken: Fr. Reinersman, Mary Wehmeyer, Sarah Lusher, Rob Braun, Lisa Quitter, Erin Imbus, Mike Schack, Anita Neufelder, Bob Simon, and Marianne Twehues were present. Patty Antony, Jim Klump, Juanita Schultz, Sr. Luann Bender, and Ken Glaser were absent. Introduction of new members were made: Sarah Lusher from St. Joseph Camp Springs and Anita Neufelder from St. Joseph Cold Spring. Approval of Minutes: January minutes were approved-1st motion by Mike Schack and 2nd motion by Fr. Reinersman. All other board members approved. Chairperson-Juanita Schultz: absent Principal’s Report: Mr. Ridder shared the newsletter and talked about his plan: LEAD. He plans to include parents and students in this strategic plan. Mr. Ridder also discussed technology. There is a committee that has been meeting. Mr. Braun is one of the members of that committee. The goal is to improve technology at BBHS and build on the skills students already have. Discussion is taking place as to the types of devices and what is appropriate for our school. They will decide what to allow and what not to allow. There are trials going on now in some classes. There is a plan to make devices affordable for families. Finance Report: Mr. Braun reported that the budget was submitted to the diocese. Tuition will increase to $6290 next year, which is the allowable 4% increase. Out of district will be $6900. He reported that students received around $260,000 in scholarships, discounts, etc. Mr. Braun reported that there are a few things to finish up with the construction. We will have no problem paying the loan back by 2020. As of the meeting date, 67-68 freshmen have registered for next year. Fr. Reinersman asked how many students receive tuition assistance. Mr. Braun reported that there were 60+ students receiving assistance. Old Business: By-Laws review: Mr. Ridder checked with Mike Clines and obtained a copy of Covington Catholic’s by-laws. The board discussed Article IV-Membership. The idea of a training for new members in the summer was discussed. At the May meeting, Articles I-IV will be discussed. New Business: Fr. Reinersman commended Mr. Ridder on his letter detailing his plan and complimented the students on the music concert. He also complimented the students who gave testimony at the retreat for St. Joseph students. Adjournment: 1st motion was made by Marianne Twehues and second by Bob Simon Next meeting will be May 11
