WHEN: MONDAY, MAY 25th, 2015 (Memorial Day Observed)
WHY: TO HONOR ALL VETERANS
DEAR BUSINESS OWNER, VETERANS, AND PATRIOTIC AMERICANS;
In early 1998, two veterans from Georgia met for the first time in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They
were both Vietnam Veterans and motorcycle enthusiasts. These two men not only became good friends,
but they also came up with a great IDEA! Today we hold A parade on Memorial Day, HONORING the
many veterans from ALL wars who have served and fought, giving their lives to keep AMERICA FREE.
The first Ride was held on Memorial Day 1999 and was deemed a success. 47 motorcycles were policeescorted from the Monroe Georgia Fairgrounds to the courthouse in Madison, Georgia for a Veterans’
Day Ceremony. Afterwards, there was a barbeque and social gathering honoring our veterans. That day
every participant made a small donation. Since then, the donations have grown along with the number of
participants. Memorial Day, 2014, with the American Legion Train leading, an estimated 1,000
motorcycles and support vehicles departed American Legion Post 233, Loganville, Ga., enroute to
Madison.
The Ride for America Committee (all, non-paid, volunteers) will make a donations from the proceeds
collected from the ride to the American Legions in Loganville and Madison. Donations will be made to
the “American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund” the American Legion organization providing
scholarships to children of veterans who have died in the Line of Duty since 9-11, and other Veteran’s
Support Programs such as the Milledgeville VA Home.
In August of 2014, the donations from our sponsors and participants of the Ride allowed the American
Legion Riders of Post 233, Loganville, Ga. to write a check to the “American Legion Legacy
Scholarship Fund for over ten thousand dollars. This was the largest donation by any single
organization in Georgia. On Monday, May 25th, 2015, the 17th Annual “Ride for America” will take place.
We hope to increase participation over last year’s ride.
Wouldn’t you like to say “We are a part of this great event”? We cannot do this without your support.
As you must know, there is a great deal of work and money required to organize and put on such an
event. We have been successful each year because of businesses like yours. We need donations to help
offset the cost of advertising (flyers, radio announcements, and the printing of the T-Shirts). All
donations in any amount, which are TAX DEDUCTIBLE will be appreciated. After receiving your tax
deductible donation we will acknowledge your donation with a letter showing the amount stating no
goods or services were exchanged for your donation. We will provide you our E.I.N. tax number for your
records. Checks can be made out and sent to: AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS, POST 233, P.O. Box
852, Loganville, GA 30052. On the “for” line, print: “RIDE FOR AMERICA”.
