This massive event will happen at the Truth nightclub in Midrand, Jozi. It’s happening next Sunday and will run until the next day, Freedom Day. Two major record companies in Mzansi, Soul Candi and Soulistic, have collaborated to make this historic event possible. Partygoers will be fortunate enough to choose from one of the five stages. Speaking to SunBuzz, DJ Euphonik said: “We’re all working in the same industry, so we came up with the idea of entertaining people under one roof at the same venue on a single day.” He promised to give it all he has in order to keep the house on fire. Kalawa Jazmee will be on the forefront, especially in the kwaito and Afro house arena and Cash Time will tune everything that involves hip hop. Other music genres, including soul and jazz, will be on the fifth and final floor. Sheree O’Brien, whose aim is to make this event a memorable one, said they are ready to write a new chapter as far as events organising is concerned. Sheree said: “We’re prepared to do something that’s never been done before. Quality will be the name of the game! “But people are warned: No booze or food will be allowed at the venue. There’ll be food stalls. One thing's for sure, there’ll be dancing all night long. Raise the Roof is an attempt to transform the Truth nightclub into a “boutique” type gig to showcase a selection of Mzansi’s leading dance movements on an annual basis across five different stages. Artists billed to entertain at the venue include Riky Rick, Maggz, Kid X, KO, Naked DJ, THA Muzik, DJ Bubbles, DJ Christos, DJ Claude, Ralf Gum, Black Coffe, Durban’s Finest and Mo Flava. Partygoers are urged to rush to Computicket and buy tickets or go to Soul Candi Records’ and Soulistic Music’s Facebook pages. Tickets cost R150. Pre-sale tickets cost R100, VIP entrance is R400 and those who prefer the last-minute rush will pay R600. Marvin’s gospel Soul Revival Session to hit SA By DOREEN MOLEFE INTERNATIONAL award-winning gospel singer and pastor, Marvin Sapp, is heading to Mzansi! He is set to perform on 27 April as part of the Soulful Sounds: Soul Revival Session gospel concert. Marvin will share the stage with local gospel stars like Ntokozo Mbambo, Benjamin Dube, Solly Mahlangu, Sfiso Ncwane and Apostle Mokoena at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate, Jozi. And when given a chance, these gifted individuals have the power to change people’s lives through music. To turn this dream into reality, the Transnet Foundation has launched Transnet Rising Starz – a talent-spotting drive that aims to nurture vocal talent. Young and gifted vocalists from the Northern Cape will be first in line to take a shot at winning the competition. By DIMAKATSO MOTAU GOSPEL and jazz singer Swazi Dlamini has embarked on a series of performances to give her fans a taste of all her five albums, one performance at a time! The former Joyous Celebration member said the idea to have a series of performances focusing on one album at a time, came from the demand of her fans. “I’ve learnt through my performances that some fans come to the show expecting to hear some songs from other albums, and when I don’t perform those songs they get disgruntled. “But when I started listening to feedback from my fans, I saw an opportunity to package different performances based on each album. “This time around the performance series focuses on my debut album, My First Love,” she said. She said this also gives her an opportunity to reconnect with her old as well as new fans, and also to revisit the music she’s done over a decade ago. “This being my debut album, it’s an important album as it introduced me to the music industry and fans have fond memories,” Swazi said. Her performance at the Joburg Theatre is part of a series of countrywide gigs. “I’ll record my performances, because I’m not ruling out the possibility of releasing a DVD or sharing it online,” she added.
