The 2015 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall
Innovation and Excellence Awards celebrate leading practice within
Australia’s property development and investment industries.
The 99 finalists across 17 categories demonstrate excellence across
the entire spectrum of the industry – and represent everything from
large-scale commercial offices and shopping centres through to
boutique residential and retirement living projects.
A new landmark, Mirvac Group’s 8 Chifley in the Sydney CBD, has been
named the ‘Rider Levett Bucknall Australian Development of the Year’.
Owned and nominated by Mirvac, 8 Chifley is dramatically different
to anything seen before on the Sydney skyline. The 34-storey office
building is made up of two stacked modules of 12 and nine floors, with
seven ‘vertical villages’ ranging between two and four storeys.
RLB has partnered with the Property Council of Australia to present this
awards program since its inception in 1982.
National award winners were announced at the 2015 Property Council of
Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards Gala
Dinner, held in Sydney on 1 May.
This book lists all property finalists in the respective award categories
and provides an overview of projects where RLB provided services.

Australia’s leading retail destinations. A $300 million re-development of Highpoint Shopping Centre reached completion
in March 2013. The expansion represents a greatly improved centre for customers and the western region of Melbourne
with an extensively enhanced retail offer, including the first David Jones to Melbourne’s west, the creation of significant
job opportunities, improved traffic flow, new public spaces and innovative sustainability initiatives.

2015 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation & Excellence Awards
Melbourne’s GPO was an ailing fashion destination of 40+ stores. High costs and competitive centres were putting
its future in doubt. A bold decision to pre-invest $10 million into extensive heritage works laid the foundation to try
something very unconventional: to source a global retailer to open a whole-of-building flagship store. Fashion giant H&M
took the opportunity to open one of their largest stores globally, preserving the heritage nature of this grand Victorian
building and reigniting the fashion landscape of the CBD.
