You’re Invited! The Rocky Mountain Forest Service Association – the Rocky Mountaineers – invites you to participate in the annual Memorial Grove honor ceremony and field day event scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Monument Fire Center in Monument, Colorado. This year’s memorial will include placing the newest plaque and planting a tree in memory of Region 2 employees who passed away during 2014. The early part of the day will be devoted to improving and maintaining the site and all are welcome to help. The memorial will begin at 11:00 a.m., and participants should plan on arriving by 10:30 a.m. A chili lunch will be shared with family members, retirees, and fellow employees after the ceremony and tree planting. Feel free to bring a desert or salad to share. Over 1,100 deceased Region 2 employees have been honored at Memorial Grove since the site was established in 1920. A unique and special tradition, past participants have found the honor ceremony to be a great way to show respect for those who dedicated their lives to public service in the Rocky Mountain Region of the Forest Service. More information, including a list of past honorees, can be found on the Rocky Mountaineers’ website at www.rockymountaineers.us under “In Memory”. You can also read more about the Memorial Grove and last year’s honor ceremony in the Spring 2014 edition of The Rendezvous, the Rocky Mountaineers’ quarterly newsletter. A current list of 2014 honorees is included below. If you have additional names to add, or any questions about the event, please contact either Dana Coelho, R2 Liaison to the Rocky Mountain Forest Service Association, at 303-275-5231 or the Pikes Peak Ranger District at 719-636-1602. 2014 Memorial Grove Honorees: Betty Grace Alexander Harriette Lucille Allen Julie M.
