Dear Association Member
It is my pleasure, once again, to introduce our programme of events for 2015 as agreed
at the AGM held at the Leisure Centre on 5th February 2015.
This year’s subsidised trip will be free and will be to York. We will be picking up at
the usual pick-up points for this trip. (See the list of pick-up points in the brochure)
All other trips will start from the Leisure Centre where there is ample parking. It
would be helpful if members would park immediately on the right at the back of the
Gymnasium to allow visitors to the Gym and club to park in the other areas.
An extra event is being held this year in the form of a cabaret. For this event free
transport will be offered from Burnley and Skipton through to Barnoldswick, and
return, for full members and one guest using the normal pick-up points. Any extra
guests will be charged £5 each for the return journey. It is hoped that by providing
this transport it will encourage more people to attend from out of town and enabling
them to have a drink without having to drive home.
The trip on the Manchester Ship Canal costs more than our usual trips, therefore we
need to see how many are interested in booking. We have therefore put an early date
for bookings of Friday 3rd April to see how many are interested. If it fails to get the
minimum number we will organise a trip to The Anderton Boat Lift, Northwich in its
place. Around the same time a further mailing will be sent in early April if the boat lift
trip is taking place.
I would again like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Rolls-Royce Leisure
and the committee members for their help and support during the past year and also
thank members who attended last year’s events. I would also like to thank the Union
for their very generous donation of £1827.58 at the Christmas Party. How they
continue to do this is beyond belief.
At this point in time RR Leisure are not informed of employees leaving the company or
members of the REA passing away. We are trying hard to resolve this situation but
are being continually blocked by The Data Protection Act. Please accept our apologies
if you receive a mailing for someone who has passed away, or you have not been
invited to join REA on your retirement
It is hoped that this brochure will appear on the RR Leisure web site
We look forward to meeting you again this year.

SPECIAL GUIDELINES FOR COACH TRIPS
The following details are for your information when booking our excursions. Please note that
items 6, 7 & 13 clarify the position regarding additional guests.
1
Members and one guest only bookings will be taken up to the date stated in the
brochure. This will usually be three/four weeks before the actual trip.
2
Any bookings made after this date will only be accepted subject to availability.
3
Refunds will not normally be given in respect of a cancellation made after the members
only deadline, unless we are able to re-allocate the places. Exceptional circumstances
may be considered. Two days notice gives us the opportunity to re-sell the tickets.
4
Any journey under two hours will normally be direct. Longer trips may require a
comfort stop on both the outward and return journeys.
5
Members should be aware that the Association, on each trip, pays for all gratuities.
6
Members are always allowed to take one guest on any of our trips.
7
If details of an excursion states, “Open to non-members” members are permitted to
book additional guests.
8
The Christmas Market trip in November will be open to non-members.
9
The front 4 seats on either side of each coach (eight seats in total) are reserved for
disabled people and the stewards. The steward will advise, on the day, if any of these
seats are available to able bodied persons.
10
When returning your booking forms please indicate any disabilities that warrant the
allocation of these seats.
11
All the remaining seats to be available as people enter the coach. On no account can
seats be reserved for people who have not yet arrived.
12
No one must board the coach until asked to do so by the steward.
13
After the members only date the trip will be opened up to additional guests, nonmembers and members of the public, providing seats are available.
14
If the trip is oversubscribed by a small number, the places will be
allocated on a first-come basis.
15
The return time on the ticket will be strictly adhered to. The coach steward does not
have the authority to alter the time, except in an emergency.

most well-known, spectacular railway journeys in the world.
Through the breathtaking Yorkshire Dales, into the Eden Valley
and Appleby, through to Cumbria's vibrant capital city - Carlisle.
A great day out.
Ribblehead viaduct is
the most famous and
well photographed point along the line. Standing
feet a ove Batty Moss , it has
ar hes and
has been completely renovated, Ais Gil summit is the
highest point at 1169 above sea level. The line was
built by over 6,000 navvies, who worked in remote
locations, enduring harsh weather conditions. Large
camps were established to house the navvies, most of them Irish, with many becoming
complete townships with post offices and schools. They were named Inkerman, Sebastapol
and Jericho. The remains of one camp—Batty Green—where over 2,000 navvies lived and
worked, can be seen near Ribblehead.

look for the items of interest on the journey.
To make your journey even more enjoyable our licensed bar and servery are available on board, selling refreshments

Because of the cost of this trip it is envisaged that it may not attract a great number of people, although it was
voted in second place at the AGM. So, in order to make the necessary arrangements for this trip an early
closing date (April 2nd) is needed and a minimum of 24 people will need to book to make it viable.
