Rondo Avenue, Inc. (RAI), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is dedicated to preserving the core values of the former
predominately African-American Rondo community and accurately interpreting the contributions of those residents to
the City of St. Paul. The Rondo Community was a thriving community that helped to establish Minnesota’s African American
institutions, community values, and educational aspirations. Descendant luminaries from the Rondo community, pre I-94 era,
such as: Roy Wilkins, Executive Secretary of the NAACP during the Brown vs. Board era; Gordon Parks, a ground breaking
photographer for Life Magazine and director of the critically acclaimed movie Shaft; Robert “Bobby” Hickman, former St. Paul
Activist and founder of the Inner City Youth League are just a few of the members of the Old Rondo neighborhood that have
contributed significantly and paved successful paths for many that can attribute their life’s progressions to these pillars of the
Rondo neighborhood. This community was displaced by the construction of Interstate I-94 in the late 1960’s.
Every 3rd weekend in July, for the past 31 years, RAI has sponsored the “Rondo Days” festival as a means to transmit
the history and rich cultural traditions of the Old Rondo neighborhood and connect them with the new generations of
an ever-evolving community. Over the years, the Rondo Days 5K Walk & Run, the Grande Parade, the Festival and the
Dance/Drill Team Competition draws anywhere from 30,000 to 40,000 spectators from a diverse background of
cultures, ages, income brackets and localities. 85 percent of the funding for the festival is derived through private and
corporate sponsorships and a few grants.
As a sponsor of the July 18, 2015 Rondo Days Festival, you will receive media attention through the marketing and
promotion efforts for the Rondo Festival, that may also include the associated events and activities. Your business or
organization will have the opportunity to infuse your brand into a massive audience.

WHERE: Various streets in the Rondo Community and the
Rondo Education Center field & parking lot at 560
Concordia Ave in St. Paul.
WHY: This is a time, every 3rd weekend in July, when
members of the Rondo community and abroad can come
together and celebrate the history of Rondo through
entertainment, food & service vendors, social
camaraderie, business relationships, historic education,
youth activities and more.
AUDIENCE: Over the last few years, the highly anticipated
Rondo Days Festival drew an average of 35,000 spectators
and participants throughout the day. Although the
audience is predominantly of African-American descent,
each year RAI witnesses a more culturally diverse spectrum
of visitors, vendors and participants.
SPONSORS: RAI is seeking corporations, businesses and
individuals interested in supporting the Rondo Days
Festival and related events through cash sponsorship
and/or in-kind donations. Sponsorship opportunities
available from $500 to $10,000.
