ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR – SCALE RUC 14
QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT

Must have a D. Phil degree or its academic equivalent (LL.D, PhD, M.Med) etc.
Must have at least four (4) years teaching and research experience since becoming
Senior Lecturer or eight (8) years of teaching experience at University.
(iii) Must have at least four (4) articles in refereed journals since appointment as Senior
Lecturer (Minimum Publication Score-12 points).
(iv)
Should have supervised postgraduate degree candidates.
(v)
Should have attended and contributed at learning conferences, seminars or
workshops.
(vi)
Should show evidence of membership of professional societies.
(vii) Should show evidence of continued research and effective teaching.
(viii) Should be recognized and registered by relevant professional boards e.g. Medical
Practitioners and Dentist Board (for Medical Doctors).
(ix)
Should show evidence of contribution to University life as well as National and
International Life.

Must have at least four (4) years of teaching or research experience at University
level since becoming Lecturer/Research Fellow.
Must have a minimum of four (4) publications in refereed journals since appointment
as Lecturer/Research Fellow (Minimum Publication Score-12 points)
OR
Must have a Masters degree plus five (5) years of University teaching experience
after becoming Lecturer and five (5) publications since becoming Lecturer (Minimum
Publication Score 15 points)

Must have a Masters degree in addition to a first degree from a recognized academic
institution plus at least two (2) years of teaching experience at University level after
obtaining a Masters degree and at least 2 publications in refereed journal (s)
(Minimum Publication Score-6 points).
Those with a Masters degree should be registered for D. Phil degree.
Must show evidence of evaluated effective teaching.
Should be recognized or registered by relevant professional board (e.g. Medical
Practitioners and Dentist Board for medical Doctors)

Must normally have a first degree and a Masters degree (M.A, Msc., M.Ed., M. Phil,
MBA, LLM, MBChB etc.) in the relevant field plus at least 1 year post qualification
in a teaching or research institution.
Should continue to demonstrate potential for University teaching and research by
registering for a D. Phil degree and/or producing publications.
Should be employed under contract of I year and normally renewable more than once.
Where potential for University teaching and/or research has been demonstrated
during the contract period a Tutorial Fellow should be considered for permanent and
pensionable terms of service.
Should be recognized and registered or registable by relevant body (e.g. Medical
Practitioners & Dentist Board (for Medical Doctors.

Evidence of attendance of managerial and leadership seminars.
Computer literacy.
Training in Public Relation.

Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
Masters degree such as MBA from a recognized institution in a relevant field such as

Accountant or equivalent.
Computer literacy.
Registered with ICPAK.

recognized institution.
At least nine (9) years relevant working experience.
Computer literacy.
Been registered by the Kenya Institute of Supply Management, Certified Institute of
Purchasing and Supplies.
Attended procurement seminars and workshops.
Training in Public Relations.
ASSISTANT SECURITY OFFICER II – SCALE RUC 5
QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT

Served in the grade of security supervisor or in a comparable and relevant position in
a security firm for at least three (3) years.
Demonstrated outstanding administrative ability in controlling security guards.
A Diploma in criminology or social work or its equivalent from a recognized
institution.
Those who have served in the Kenya Defence Forces or Police Service for at least
eight (8) years and attained the rank of a corporal and above or have done intelligence
military police course will also be considered.
Must be physically and medically fit.
Computer literacy.
Certificate in Public Relations.
Those who have done warrant officers command course will have an added advantage.
