Most camps are held at Ada Park; some days at Roselle Park, Pioneer Camp at the Ada Museum; Eco-Adventure uses 3 sites. Session 1: Arts in the Park June 16-18 Session 2: Sports Spectacular July 14-16 Session 3: Wet and Wild July 21-22 Session 4: Eyes on Survival July 28-30 Session 5: Pioneer Days August 11-13 Water Eco-Adventure Camp June 23-25 (ages 10-13) The schedule, fees, and registration form for these programs is attached. *Half-day options are available for younger campers. **Scholarships are available. Half-day Programs offer a morning of fun outdoor exploration, nature study, and crafts for various age levels. Discovery Days Ages 3-5 with a parent Young Explorers Ages 5-7 Junior Naturalist Ages 8-11 Outdoor Adventurers Ages 10–13 New this summer! The schedule, fees, and registration form for these programs is attached. Ada Village Kids’ Garden is a spring and summer program for ages 9-12. The program consists of hands-on activities in the garden, classroom instruction, and involvement with the Ada Farmers’ Market. Activities include planting, maintaining, and harvesting crops, as well as selling produce at the Ada Farmers’ Market. Registration packets are available at the Park office. Tennis Lessons are offered at Ada Park for ages 3-12 during the spring, summer, and fall. Registration and instruction is coordinated by the YMCA. Call the YMCA at 616-285-9077 to register. We cannot take credit card payments at this time. *Please complete one form for each child. Discounts and Scholarships: *Ada Township residents receive a 10% discount on programs with fees over $5. *Scholarships are available to cover 50% of Day Camp program fees. To qualify for a scholarship, participants must be enrolled in the Reduced/Free Lunch program at their school. *For more details on program scholarships, contact the Ada Park office: 616-676-0520. *Please contact the Park office before submitting registration form. *The Scholarship Fund for this year were made available by the Ada Business Association. Contributions to the Scholarship fund are welcome. Confirmation: One week before the start of each program, participants will receive a confirmation e-mail with program details and an equipment list. Cancellation Policy: Cancelations by the Parks Department due to special circumstances including extreme weather, will be re-scheduled or refunded. If your child cannot come to the re-scheduled date, you may use your fee towards the cost of another program. Cancellations by participants prior to the program start date will be refunded minus a processing fee or the fees paid may be used towards the cost of another program. No refunds will be given for cancellations or absence once a program has begun. Fees paid may be used towards the cost of another program. Thank you to our corporate and Community supporters! Forest Hill Foods Ada Business Association ½ Day Program Descriptions Discovery Days: for ages 3-5 with a parent or guardian Pre-schoolers and their parent or guardian have a fun, educational adventure together. Each session will have games, a nature discovery experience in the Park, and a craft. Various Tuesday 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. $5/child Water Fun Tuesday June 30 Ada Park Cool off with water games, then see what lives in the ponds and wetlands. Wiggly Worms Tuesday August 4 Ada Park Worms eat dirt and help plants to grow? Take a “Worm walk” to look for worms in the woods. Try to wiggle and stretch like a worm and make a wooden bead “worm” to take home. Young Explorers for ages 5-7 Parents may drop off or join their youth for a fun morning outdoors with nature study, hands-on activities and crafts. Various weekdays 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. $5/child Bonkers for Bikes Wednesday July 1 Roselle Park Bring your bike and helmet to Roselle Park – get some safety tips, practice your skills on an obstacle course, and ride the Park trails. Fishing Fun Wednesday July 7 Ada Park Learn how to bait your hook and cast your line, then search for the best spot to hook a “big one” at the Ada Park pond. Fishing poles and bait supplies or bring your own. Rock Hounds Tuesday August 5 Ada Park Rocks are cool! Investigate rocks and fossils of all shapes and sizes. Learn how they were formed and start your own rock collection. Junior Naturalists for ages 8-11 Youth will enjoy hands-on nature and science activities, games, and new friends. Various weekdays 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. $5/child Bike-a-thon Thursday July 2 Roselle Park Bring your bike and helmet to Roselle Park; learn about bike safety and ride the bike path (4 miles) Fishing Frenzy Wednesday July 8 Ada Park Learn about fishing equipment and where the “big fish” like to live. Go fishing at the Ada Park pond. Fishing poles and bait supplied or bring your own. Rocks and Fossils Wednesday August 5 Ada Park Learn how rocks are formed from the forces of heat, water, and pressure deep in the Earth. Make your own rock collection and search for quartz crystals. Outdoor Adventurers for ages 10 – 13 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Challenge yourself as you explore the Parks in new ways and learn some fun outdoor skills. Adventure River Trip Thursday July 9 Leonard Field $25/youth Enjoy a river adventure as you paddle a canoe on the Thornapple and Grand Rivers starting at the Ada Covered Bridge. Learn paddle strokes, boat control, water safety and teamwork followed by a fun trip down the river. Canoes, paddles and safety gear are provided. Adventure Race Thursday August 6 Ada Park $10/youth Work in small teams on this super challenge as you walk, run, bike and maneuver through challenges through Ada Township Park and the Grand River Natural Area. Maps, compasses and clues will help your find each check point and reach the finish line! *Requires your own bike & helmet and check with us to borrow one. (3-Day) Day Camp Programs Descriptions Summer Day Camp Adventures for ages 6-11 Tuesdays through Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. $80/child for the 3 full days; $60/child for 3 half-days (ages 6-8) *Scholarships available Session 1: Arts in the Park June 16-18 Ada Park Find the artist inside you! Try painting, drawing, sculpture, and more. Create some cool artwork to take home. Session 2: Sports Spectacular July 14-16 Ada Park Play some of your favorite sports or try something new as we go from tennis to baseball to soccer and even pickle ball. Session 3: Wet and Wild July 21-23 Ada & Roselle Parks Explore ponds, river, and wetlands. Go fishing and look for aquatic insects and animals. Get wet and play water games! Session 4: Eyes on Survival July 28-30 Ada & Roselle Parks Could you survive in the Michigan woods? Be prepared when you go out in the woods – make a shelter, build a fire, and learn other survival skills. Session 5: Pioneer Days August 11-13 Averill Historical Museum Take a step back in time at the Averill Museum and Barn to explore life in the 1800’s. Learn about pioneer era toys, games, tools, chores, clothing, music, and food. Outdoor Adventurer Camp for ages 10-13 Water-Eco-adventure Camp June 23-25 3 Days – 3 Locations 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. $120/youth *Scholarships available Get your feet wet as you explore west Michigan’s amazing water ecosystems! Day 1: Meet at the Carol Creek Crossing Preserve to conduct stream investigations, then bike to Roselle Park to explore more. Day 2: Canoe sections of the Thornapple and Grand Rivers. Day 3: Fish and hike at Pickerel Lake while exploring pond and lake ecosystems. *Day 1 requires a bike and helmet or ask to borrow one. Canoes and all other supplies are provided.
