12th Annual Disability Capitol Action Day - ADA 25: Today, Tomorrow and
Forever! Disability Action Coalition holds one of the nation’s largest and most
diverse cross-disability legislative events each year. Thousands gather to meet
with legislators over threats to living independently under the ADA, restoring InHome Support Services funding, increasing State Supplemental Payment
program and police cultural competency training.
WHEN:
Wednesday, May 20, 2015, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00
 9:00 a.m. Resource Fair Opens (West Lawn)
 10:30 a.m. Educational Rally (West Steps) including live entertainment
and speeches from Asm. Kansen Chu, Asm. Cheryl Brown, Asm. Tony
Thurmond.
 1:00 p.m. Capitol Activities: YO! Disabled and Proud ADA Forum
(Basement Cafeteria-Old Building), Legislative Visits, Legislative
Hearings
WHERE:
West Steps of the Capitol (10th Street Side)
WHY:
People with disabilities gained many civil rights protections when President
George H.W. Bush signed the ADA in 1990. Since that time much progress has
been made in promoting such provisions as access to transportation and
employment. But other rights, including equal access to businesses, are being
legislatively eroded.

Capitol Action Day is an annual event coordinated by The Disability Action Coalition as an
opportunity for people of cross disabilities and their allies to come together in solidarity for
learning, resources, unity and to share the current issues that affect their daily lives in California.
