Introduction
Introduction
This guide contains information about how to use SAP BusinessObjects Financial Information
Management 10.0 with SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation 10.0, version for the Microsoft
Platform.
This guide complements the information in the SAP BusinessObjects Financial Information Management
Installation Guide and the SAP BusinessObjects Financial Information Management Administration
Guide.
1.1 Version Compatibility
To use SAP BusinessObjects Financial Information Management 10.0 with SAP BusinessObjects
Planning and Consolidation, version for the Microsoft Platform 10.0, you must install Support Package
01 or later of SAP BusinessObjects Financial Information Management 10.0
Important:
SAP BusinessObjects Financial Information Management 10.0 does not work with SAP BusinessObjects
Planning and Consolidation 7.5, version for the Microsoft Platform. To load or extract data from SAP
BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation 7.5 for the Microsoft Platform, you must use SAP
BusinessObjects Financial Information Management 7.5 Support Package 05 or later.

This schematic shows a detailed view of the financial information management architecture for the
planning and consolidation application:
The web service interface in the planning and consolidation application leveraged by the financial
information management application is installed by default.

3.1 Prerequisites
In order to load/extract data into the planning and consolidation application for Microsoft using the
financial information management application you need to declare users in the Central Management
Server, or CMS.
Declaring users in the CMS allows them to use the same login to connect to the following applications:
• financial information management
• planning and consolidation for Microsoft
• profitability and cost management
• financial consolidation
It also provides single sign-on among those applications.
All the users of the planning and consolidation for Microsoft application are not required to be declared
in the CMS, however those users who use the financial information management application to load or
extract data into SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation 10.0, version for the Microsoft
Platform must be declared in the CMS.
3.2 Configuring the Link between CMS and the Planning and Consolidation Application
You configure the link between the CMS and the planning and consolidation application in the "Server
Manager".
1. Click Programs > SAP BusinessObjects > Planning and Consolidation > Planning and
Consolidation Server Manager, which launches the "Server Manager".

2. In the Configure CMS dialog box, type the required information. Refer to the planning and
consolidation documentation for more detail on the information required in configuring the CMS.

3. Click Update.
3.3 Adding Users
You add users from the "Administration Console".
1. In the "Navigation Pane" select Security > Users.
2. On the right side of the screen, in the "Action Pane" under "Manage Users" select Add New User.
The "Add New Users" dialog box opens. This dialog box contains a series of screens in which you
do the following:

• Select groups.
• Add users to the groups.
• Enter information about users
• Assign users to teams, task profiles, and data access profiles.
3. Select a user group from the list.
The user group corresponds to the CMS system name that you defined earlier.
4. Select users for the group, then click Next.
5. Enter the required user details, then click Next.
6. Assign the users to teams and profiles, then click Next.
7. Verify the assignments, then click Finish.
User names cannot contain the following characters: \ / “ : * ? < > | ; , & %

After installing the different components the administrator of the planning and consolidation web server
must modify the web.config file located in the /SAP/BPC virtual directory.
In the <system.web>, <webServices>, <protocols> part of the file, the following tag must be
removed: <remove name="Documentation"/>.
3.5 Configuring the Link to the Financial Information Management Application
When you configure the link to the financial information management application from the planning and
consolidation version for Microsoft application you add application set parameters.
From the "Administration Console" proceed as follows:
1. On the right side of the screen, in the "Action Pane" click Additional Tasks > Set Environment
Parameters.
The page changes to display the "Environment Information" pane where you define links to external
applications.

The name that you gave the set of environment parameters appears in the "Launch" section of both
the web client and the administration client, as shown in the following images where "FIM" is the
name defined in the "AV_INT_NAME_1" key ID.

3.6 Configuring Drill-through to the Financial Information Management Application
You configure the drill-through feature in the planning and consolidation administration console.
1. Under "Server Name" expand the folders to locate "Drill-Through", then click.
2. In the "Add New Drill-Throughs" dialog box type an "ID" and "Description".

then click Next.
In the next screen of the dialog box you set the mapping and test parameters.

3. Type the URL of the financial information management server using the following syntax:
http://<fimserver>:<port>/fim/drillToOrigin/drillToOrigin.jsp
Note:
The URL is case-sensitive.
4. Under "URL Parameters", type the dimensions that are specific to the application for which you are
setting the Drill to Origin function. In addition to the specific dimensions, type the required dimensions:
• APP
• APPSET
• SSO
5. For each parameter other than the required dimensions, select the "Mapping Source", which must
be the same as the dimension.
6. Select User Defined Value for the following:

7. In the "Property / Value" column proceed as follows:
• Enter the appropriate values for APP and APPSET.
• Set the value of the SSO parameter to True.
• Select ID for other dimensions.

8. Click Next.
The next screen in the dialog box displays a recap of the parameters if you have entered.
9. Click Apply.
You have configured the drill-through to the financial information management function.
Note:
the following regarding SSO and URL parameters:
• If the SSO parameter exists, the value is true and the URL starts with https
• If the SSO parameter exists, the value is true, the URL does NOT start with https, and the
environment parameter ALLOW_SSO_HTTP is true, the drill-through can be saved.
• If the SSO parameter exists, the value is true, the URL does NOT start with https, and the
environment parameter ALLOW_SSO_HTTP is NOT true, the drill-through cannot be saved and an
error message is returned.

3.7 Creating a Planning and Consolidation Datastore
You must be an administrator to create a datastore.
You create a datastore in the financial information management application as follows:
1. On the "Home" page, under "List of Datastores", click New.
2. Under "Datastore type" select "SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation."
3. In the "Datastore name" box, type a unique name that you assign to the datastore.
4. Click Next.
5. In the "Web service URL" box, type the location of the planning and consolidation web service
deployed in the financial information management application ending with a slash, for example,
http://<server>:<port>/SAP/BPC/
Note:
The web service that you reference in creating the business planning and consolidation datastore
must point to the same central management server (CMS) as that on which the business planning
and consolidation application has been installed.
6. Under "Environment", select the environment from which you want to take data. The list displays
only the environment to which you have rights.
7. Select the Microsoft platform.
8. Test, then save the datastore.

4.1 Exporting Data from the Planning and Consolidation Application using the Financial
Information Management Application
You export data via jobs that you create in the financial information management application. Refer to
the application online help for specific instructions.
When exporting from the business planning and consolidation application, only base member values
are exported.
Note:
Hierarchies, aggregations, and dimension member formulas are not exported.
After you have completed the initial steps in creating a job proceed as follows:
1. On the "Source" page select the planning and consolidation datastore that you want to use.
2. In the "Application" box, select the planning and consolidation application from which you want to
export data.
3. Click Next.
You proceed to the "Target" page where you specify the location to which you want to load the data,
and its properties such as the datastore that corresponds to the target connection and additional
data.
4.2 Importing Data to the Planning and Consolidation Application
You have selected the source datastore and you are on the "Targets" page
1. In the "Datastore" box select the datastore that you want to use to connect to your target.
2. In the "Application" box select the business planning and consolidation application to which you
want to export data.
3. Click Next.
You proceed to the "Mapping Tables" page where you define the mapping table;
When you import data, that is, when the business planning and consolidation application is your target,
there is no loading option. You can load data at the leaf level only. Loading data in the financial

information management application is equivalent to loading with the Data Manager using the Merge
option in the planning and consolidation application.
You must select all planning and consolidation for Microsoft dimensions from the planning and
consolidation application.
You cannot clear existing data; you replace existing data. You need to use the Clear function in the
Data Manager.
4.2.1 Creating and Defining Mapping Tables
Refer to the financial information management online help, which is available in the application or in
.pdf format from the help portal at http://help.sap.com for detailed information on creating mapping
tables.
4.3 Loading Data from an SAP ECC
There are several ways to connect to an SAP ECC using the financial information management
application. Refer to the SAP BusinessObjects Financial Information Management 10.0 Administrator's
Guide for complete details.
