Chairman’s Diary
Saegis Campus is the tertiary education institution of the Sakya
Education Group. As you are aware, Sakya Education Group has
established its reputation over a period of fifteen years as one of the
most esteemed higher education providers in Sri Lanka. We value

Academic support and service staff will treat students in a

excellence. The campus is equipped with a modern IT lab comprising
top of the range IT equipment, a language lab with the latest facilities
to support students, a student lounge for students’ relaxation,
spacious and air conditioned lecture halls with audio visual teaching
equipment, sports and recreational facilities, a spacious students’
canteen and many more facilities a modern campus requires.
Saegis aims to provide work placements and internships to
students in keeping with present day employer demands and
conduct free seminars and workshops to enhance soft skills
of students. Unified student aids along with student financial
aid, international student advice, services for differently abled
students and student counselling service. Based on the need,
information on students bank loans and personal counselling
services are also provided by Saegis. Saegis also provides
students with career guidance seminars and job fairs on a
regular basis.

The Bachelor of Business Administration ( BBA ) degree aims
to develop students’ understanding of the area of Business
Administration and Management and develop practical skills required
for careers in this area. With an equal importance on theory and
practice, this programme provides a holistic understanding of the
role of Business Administration as well as knowledge and skills
associated with business start-up, growth and innovation.
It allows students to evaluate the complexity of modern international
business organisations, the intricate relationships that exist between
businesses, the social frameworks in which they function and the
challenges of administration at all levels.
The curriculum is diverse and stresses the application of knowledge

financial statements, and to interpret such statements to monitor

The Human Resource Management pathway offers an in-depth study
of the close integration between people management and the needs
of the business.
It looks at how businesses can attract, retain, motivate and manage
people and aims to offer you the opportunity to reach the high
standards necessary to pursue a successful career in this field.
The programme provides the knowledge, skills and attitudes
to manage people effectively within an organisation, as well as
communicate well with stakeholders.
You develop methods, practices and techniques for human resource
management within a range of situations, and upon graduation, you

the wider business strategy, and manage a variety of interpersonal

As information technology continues to transform our lives, IT
systems are becoming ever more important for organisations to
remain competitive. To maintain their edge, businesses need to
plan, design and implement effective IT systems. The demand for
graduates with the skills and the understanding to align such systems
to support them has never been greater.
This course provides the flexibility to adapt to the changing demands
of industry and equips you with the skills needed to sustain a
successful career as an IT professional. The core programme focuses
on database design, systems analysis and e-business development,
as well as the personal and business skills required in all modern IT
environments.
BSc ( BIT ) is a 3 year full-time degree. This programme
comprises lectures, practical sessions, research projects,
individual/ group presentations, tutorials and group discussions.
After the first 2 years of the degree you will be awarded a Higher
National Diploma from the Scottish Qualifications Authority
( SQA ). After successful completion of 3 years you will be
awarded the BSc Honours ( BIT ) from Birmingham City

Enterprise Systems Management
Specialising enterprise

intelligence and customer
relationship management.
The course is designed primarily for graduates who have prior
knowledge of information systems and/or technologies, logistics
and distribution, and who wish to specialise in enterprise resource
planning, business intelligence and customer relationship
management. An induction programme also caters to experienced
individuals, such as project managers and those with a manufacturing
background, who wish to update their skills, and professionals with
industrial experience in other sectors seeking to enter the industry.
Birmingham City University is a part of the SAP University Alliance
( SUA ). This has supported the development of a core of staff with
expertise in enterprise resource planning, information systems,
logistics and distribution, enterprise technologies, manufacturing and
project management and outstanding resources and facilities.
The study programme has a strong professional emphasis and
students can work towards an industry recognised SAP qualification
alongside their MSc degree. In addition to providing theoretical
underpinning, practical applications are pervasive and supported by
the faculty’s extensive computing resources. In addition to further
academic research opportunities, career prospects are expected
to keep pace with the rapid advances in information systems,
management methods and intelligent based technologies, hence
continuous demand for competent, versatile postgraduates who can
design and implement innovative solutions for industry is anticipated.
The course is divided into eight taught modules of 15 credits and
a Masters Project of 60 credits. Students complete 60 credits for
Postgraduate Certificate, 120 credits for Postgraduate Diploma
and 180 credits for MSc. Each credit represents 10 notional
hours of student learning and assessment.
