This is the introduction to his second book. Second reading: Ephesians 1.17-23 Many early people believed that a complex hierarchy of angels and spiritual powers stood between God and themselves, both mediating and interfering. The author of Ephesians wants his audience to feel confident of their access to God in Christ, and in Christ's superiority over all other powers. Gospel: Mark 16.15-20 This is the absolute conclusion of Saint Matthew's gospel. It does not describe the ascension of Jesus, but it tells of a mission and frankly describes the disciples' lingering doubts. On June 7th, HRM is coming together to walk for those most in need. With that power they were able to do many things – especially be witnesses for Jesus. We also received the Holy Spirit when we were baptized. And so we too have the power of the Holy Spirit to be witnesses for Jesus. How can we do this? Jesus said he wanted everyone to hear the Good News that he is risen and loves them and wants them to live forever with him. Jesus said, “Go to every part of the world and tell everyone the Good News.” How can we help do that? Keep the children focused on ideas truly possible for them at their ages. Faith doesn’t have to end when high school youth group ends Introducing Encounter Atlantic, a Steubenville Young Adult conference for ages 19-29. For you or a young adult you know, this is an opportunity to meet other young people who are trying to live as Catholics in the world. Encounter will feature dynamic speakers, great music, interactive breakouts, socials and entertainment, and, of course, opportunities to come together as a community of prayer. This conference is specifically for Catholic young adults and will be different from the high school conferences – but it will be every bit as powerful! WHEN: July 3-5, 2015 WHERE: Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS COST: $200 on campus; $130 off campus On Sunday, May 17, we mark the 49th World Day for Communications. Each year the Pope Francis publishes a special message for this day in January on the Feast of St. Francis De Sales, the patron saint of journalists. The opening words are below: “The family is a subject of profound reflection by the Church and of a process involving two Synods: the recent extraordinary assembly and the ordinary assembly scheduled for next October. So I thought it appropriate that the theme for the next World Communications Day should have the family as its point of reference. After all, it is in the context of the family that we first learn how to communicate. Focusing on this context can help to make our communication more authentic and humane, while helping us to view the family in a new perspective.” World Communications Day is the only worldwide celebration called for by the Second Vatican Council ("Inter Mirifica", 1963) and is marked in most countries, on the recommendation of the bishops of the world, on the Sunday before Pentecost.
