Gospel: Lk 24:35-48
Last week we read of Jesus appearing to his disciples
when the doors were locked. Thomas was not present
the first time. Today’s reading is another account of this
first appearance. Here we learn he appeared to them after
the two disciples returned from Emmaus as they were
recounting their encounter. Although they saw him in
their midst and touched him, their joy was “incredulous”
(distrustful, disbelieving, suspicious). Two thousand years
have passed, is our joy for Jesus also incredulous? God loves
us unconditionally and blesses us abundantly, even when
we are too blind to see it. Let us reflect on the stories of
Jesus’ appearances and take the Spirit he gave the disciples
to go forth into the world today.

Saint of the Week:
Saint Anselm of Canterbury
Born: 1033
Died: April 21, 1109
Memorial: April 21
Canonized: 1492 by Pope Alexander IV
Anselm became a Benedictine Monk in
1056 and became their Abbot in 1078. He reluctantly went
to England to become the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1092.
He fought the King’s encroachment on ecclesiastical rights
and the independence of the Church and refused to take
bribes. The King exiled him in response. King Henry II invited
Anselm to return to England but he was exiled again when he
refused again to compromise the Church. He was successful
in England at obtaining legislation prohibiting sale of men. He
was a great philosopher and theologian and was chosen as a
doctor of the Church in 1720 by Pope Clement XI.

Joseph Chili Cook-Off Feast.
We had thirteen types of chili
entered; some hot, some not, some
red, and one white. Participants
tasted and voted by number
for their favorite chili. Our first
prize winner was Paul Belau. Paul
received the Chili trophy (pictured
below) and $50.
St. Joseph will receive a percentage of your purchases
through April 30, 2016.
Invitation to the Ordination to the
Sacred Order of Deacon ~
Our former Summer Seminarian (2012), Timothy
Lynch, is taking his next step towards the priesthood
and will be ordained a Deacon.
You may remember Tim helping out at VBS (pictured
below). He was great with the kids and so much fun!

Celebrate Seniors!
The 2015 Senior Citizens Day
Celebration is Tuesday, June 2,
at St. Paul the Apostle Church in
Westerville. Mass will be at 10:30
a.m. followed by a luncheon.
Registration is $10 and is a great
opportunity to meet other seniors
around the diocese. Call the Office

Mass for Victims of Cancer
Our Lady of Consolation Shrine, Carey, Ohio, will offer a Mass for victims of
cancer on Friday, May 1 at 7 p.m. We welcome all to come and pray together.
Following Mass, visitors are invited to participate in special prayers for healing.

Weekly Scripture Challenge~ by Tim Rimmer
This is the third Sunday of Easter. We have read about the Last Supper, Jesus’
arrest, trial and sentencing, his crucifixion, death, burial, the empty tomb,
and the resurrected Jesus’ appearance to his disciples. Challenge – what was
the time-line (days of the week) from the time Jesus was arrested until he
was resurrected; at what times of the day did these events take place? Can you name those
who came to the empty tomb? Refer to all four Gospels for answers. Matthew reveals the
least, John and Mark the most.

or work with fiber?
You may be interested in attending the Fiber Fair
and share with others who enjoy your passion and
ministry. The fair will take place on Saturday, April
25, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Church of
the Resurrection, New Albany. ALL ARE WELCOME!

Next fall, Fr. Pat is moving his bowling team to
Plain City Lanes and he is looking to help organize
more teams. These teams would join the league
already established at Plain City Lanes or be a
start for a new league.
• Bowling League runs approximately 30 weeks from September through April.
• The teams would meet Tuesday evenings and cost approximately $15 per week, which includes money for the prize fund.
• Teams are made up of 4 bowlers with subs allowed.
• It is a handicap league and youth bowlers are ok.
