THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Prv 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31; Ps 128; 1 Thes 5:1-6; Mt 25:14-30 The thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time brings us the familiar and powerful parable from Matthew’s Gospel about the servants who are each given sums of money to invest. We are all called upon to use the gifts we have received as gifts, and to return them, fully developed, having made the best use of them. ROSE PHILIPPINE DUCHESNE Born: August 29, 1769 Died: November 18, 1852 Memorial: November 18 Canonized: July 3, 1988 by Pope John Paul II During the French Revolution, St. Rose hid priests from Revolutionairies in France and helped the poor and the sick. In 1818, St. Rose and four other sisters were sent as missionaries to the Louisiana Territory to establish her order, the Society of the Sacred Heart, in America. She started schools for the poor and the Native Americans and took care of their sick. She evangelized the Pottowatomi Tribe and was known to the tribe as “Woman-WhoPrays-Always”. November 16, 2014Page 2 Father William “Bill” Metzger ~ Rest In Peace Father William J. Metzger, long-serving priest in the Diocese of Columbus, died November 4, 2014. Fr. Bill’s brother Steve was pastor at St. Joseph. In this picture to the right, Fr. Bill was helping with a Cum Christo weekend in 2007 with Elaine Bonacci. Fr. Bill also occasionally celebrated Mass for us when Fr. Pat was away. The Metzgers are known for their simple, devote lives. Both Fr. Bill, God rest his soul, and Fr.
