During these talks, Fr. Bernie will focus first on Jesus and his
times with a particular emphasis on the Jewishness of Jesus,
biblical themes and texts (Hebrew Bible) that the disciples of
Jesus used to help them understand Jesus, and the Kingdom of
God as Jesus’ central proclamation. Fr. Bernie will focus on
Jesus in his words and deeds and on the last tumultuous week
of Jesus’ life. Suggested donation of $10.

Mark is the first and shortest of the four Gospels that we
have in written form. Biblical scholars used to frown a bit
upon Mark in comparison to the lofty John, the literate
Luke and the highly organized Matthew. The almost
dismissive view spoke of Mark “as a long Passion
Narrative with a short introduction”. That view no longer
holds among NT scholars, as Mark is now seen as
something of a path setter …. creating the Gospel written
form … and someone with a unique perspective on Jesus,
his disciples and the mission. Suggested donation of $10.
