A FEW WORDS FROM OUR PASTOR
I am still in awe at how beautiful and prayerful each of our liturgical
celebrations were during Holy Week. Many people worked very hard at
making sure everything was just right so that YOU— the people of our parish
family—would have a most prayerful experience. My sincerest thanks to John
and Mark for assisting us in making sure everything was in place and that our
church and parish hall were clean. My thanks to Joan, Laurice, Audrey and Jim
for decorating our church for each of the services last week—they did a great
job! So many people commented that the church had never looked so beautiful
at Easter. Thank You to Dineen Construction for replacing every single broken
and burned out light bulb in the church. I could not believe how bright the
church was with every single light working! It was truly spectacular! My
thanks to our choirs and cantors, who did a great job leading us all in song
throughout Holy Week, and to Iouri for the incredible job he did with the music.
May thanks to our Lectors, who really outdid themselves proclaiming the Word
of God at each of our celebrations; thanks also to our Ushers and Ministers of
Hospitality, who greeted everyone and made sure everyone had a seat. I also
want to thank our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion for their
assistance, and a word of thanks to our Altar Servers as well, who did an
outstanding job throughout our Triduum. We are also grateful to our twelve
“apostles” who allowed us to wash their feet on Holy Thursday evening as a
symbolic gesture of the loving service we are challenged to render to our sisters
and brothers in Christ. I also want to thank all the girls and boys from our
parish who participated in our Children’s Stations of the Cross on Good Friday
afternoon. They were terrific! Not only were they reverent and well-practiced,
but they helped lead us deeper into the mystery the Christ’s suffering and
passion. Thank you also to Father Kevin for presiding at our Liturgy on Good
Friday and challenging us through the words of his homily. Thank you as well
to Father Bob for being with us at each of our Holy Week liturgies and for the
support he gives our parish throughout the year. A special big THANK YOU
goes out to the O’Beirne Family (Geri Anne, Patrick, and Patrick, Jr.) for all the
behind the scenes work they did throughout Holy Week— especially during the
Triduum. Geri Anne prepared our children for the Stations of the Cross, sat in
on our Altar Server practices, put together congregational candles for the Easter
Vigil and assisted Father Kevin and myself through every step of our first Holy
Week Liturgies here at Saint Saviour Parish. We are truly a blessed parish to
have so many people who really love Saint Saviour Parish—and who work
tirelessly to make our parish the wonderful place it is! Finally, I want to thank
YOU—our loyal and faithful parishioners—for choosing to pray with us
throughout Holy Week. We are so glad you are here—and please know that
you are ALL welcome here at Saint Saviour Parish Family—as there will
ALWAYS be a place for YOU at our table!
Have a great week everyone 

ADDITIONAL MEMORIALS AVAILABLE
Our thanks to everyone who helped us out in
memorializing the sacred items we needed most
recently for Easter and throughout the coming year.
We still have three new Lectionaries available (one
is for Sundays; one is for weekday Masses; and one
is for special feasts and ritual Masses). Each book
may be memorialized for $150.00. If anyone is
interested in donating any of these items, please call
the Rectory and speak with either Father Frank or
Father Kevin. Thank you.
EASTER GIFT TO THE PARISH
We would like to take this opportunity to thank ALL
the members of our parish family who gave so
generously in this year’s “EASTER GIFT TO MY
PARISH” collection. This money will
certainly
assist us in the upkeep of our beautiful church and
surrounding buildings—as well as to continue to
provide YOU, our faithful parishioners, with quality
services and activities as we together continue to
build up God’s Kingdom right here in our little
section of Park Slope, Brooklyn.
MASS INTENTIONS AVAILABLE
We still have a large number of Mass Intentions
available for both weekday AND weekend
celebrations of Eucharist. Please consider having a
Mass celebrated for a loved one or family
member—either living or deceased. We are ALL in
need of prayers, and there is no greater prayer than
the celebration of Eucharist. Each Mass Intention
is only $15.00. If you are interested in having a
Mass
celebrated in memory of a deceased loved
one, or in honor of someone who is living, please
call Emily at the Rectory and she will be more than
happy to assist you.
2015 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL
2015 Annual Catholic Appeal Forms are available at
each of the front doors to the church. They are also
available at the
Rectory
during Office Hours.
For those of you who have already made a pledge—
we thank you! For those of you who still have not
made a pledge—there is plenty of time to do so!
Remember, you will not only be
helping in the
work of our Diocese, but you will also be helping
YOUR parish as well. ALL monies received over
our parish goal of $60,588.00 will be returned to us
here at Saint Saviour to assist us in preserving the
mission of Saint Saviour Parish as well as assisting us
in doing much needed repairs around our parish
plant.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
Today the Church celebrates the Second Sunday of Easter. In the last 15 years, it has become known as
the Feast of the Divine Mercy, or more commonly, Divine Mercy Sunday. This devotion to the divine mercy of
Jesus has been celebrated for many years in many different parts of the world since the 1930s, yet it wasn’t
until Saint John Paul II canonized Saint Faustina Kowalska on April 30, 2000, that the Sunday after Easter
became known as “Divine Mercy Sunday” in the General Roman Calendar. Saint Faustina was an uneducated
Polish nun who kept a diary of about 600 pages telling the story of her revelations regarding the mercy of God.
Devotion to the Divine Mercy of Jesus challenges us to arrive at a greater understanding that the love of God
is both unconditional and never-ending, and is available to ALL people - and it challenges us even further to
reciprocate that love and mercy to everyone whom we encounter throughout our life’s journey.
Here at Saint Saviour parish, there will be veneration of the divine Mercy image and the recitation of
the Divine Mercy Chaplet beginning at 3:00 p.m. TODAY (Sunday, April 12th.). ALL the members of our
parish family are invited to attend and share in God’s Divine Mercy.

FATHER FRANK’S INSTALLATION AS
OUR NEW PASTOR
On Sunday Morning, May 17th, our parish
will be welcoming Bishop Raymond
Chappetto, who will be coming to Saint
Saviour to officially install Father Frank as
the 11th Pastor of St. Saviour Parish during
our 10:00 a.m. Family Mass. We do hope
as many members of our parish family as
possible will come out and join us in prayer
as we “officially” welcome our new pastor.

RISEN CHRIST FLYERS
Additional Risen Christ Flyers are available both at
the doors to the church and in the Rectory. It’s nice
to see some doors and windows around our
neighborhood with these Risen Christ Flyers on
them. Remember, we leave them up until the
conclusion of our celebration of Easter, which
occurs on the Solemnity of Pentecost (Sunday, May
24th).
INCOME TAX DAY
April 15th is Income Tax Day. Did you
remember to file your Income Tax this year?
