2015 SAME Scholarship Program for High School Seniors
The San Diego Chapter of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) has expanded our
scholarship program to include graduating high school seniors who intend to pursue a college
degree in either engineering or architecture. The program is only open to children of members
of the San Diego Post. We intend to grant up to $5000 in scholarships to deserving students.
Applications will be accepted directly from the students. The candidates must be U.S. citizens
who are entering college this fall and display enthusiastic promise in their studies. Grade point
average will not be the only consideration. Involvement in other extra-curricular activities and
organizations and financial need are among other key considerations. Interviews will be
scheduled with the candidates deemed best qualified by the SAME Scholarship Committee
following a review of individual applications.
In addition to the cash award and a scholarship certificate, each scholarship winner will be
invited to the SAME Awards Ceremony luncheon.
The scholarship application package for each individual must be received no later than 5:00 pm
on Friday, April 10, 2015 in the following format:
1. Completed standard scholarship application form (below).
2. Resume showing your academic achievements and involvement in extra-curricular and
community service related activities.
3. A 500-word essay (typed, double-spaced).
Interviews will be conducted during April, at a time and place to be announced. Award
presentations will be made at the SAME membership lunch meeting in May.
A copy of the SAME Scholarship Application is enclosed.
