Christos Anesti!
With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos, we cordially invite you to St. John
the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the 71st Metropolis of San
Francisco Church Music Conference, held June 25-28, 2015.
This year’s conference will be a showcase of our Metropolis’ sacred music, as well as an
unforgettable experience for families and children. We are introducing the Youth Choir Camp,
which is the youth component of the conference. Children will have the opportunity to socialize
and sing with their peers from throughout the Metropolis. They will also enjoy fun activities at
New York-New York Hotel, including a roller coaster ride and exclusive access to the pool.
Families of choir members will also have a new experience at this year’s conference. We have
left Friday night open so that you can enjoy a night out on the town with family and friends. On
Saturday there will be a lively glendi – with live music! – and on Sunday an elegant brunch after
Divine Liturgy. (The glendi and brunch are inclusive for conference participants. Tickets are sold
separately for non-participants.)

Climate
Las Vegas has 294 days of sunshine a year, which means
fantastic holiday weather whenever you go. Las Vegas
summers (June, July, and August) are very hot and no warm
clothing will be needed at all. During the summer, the early
mornings are the best time to schedule outdoor activities such
as excursions to the Grand Canyon or golf.

There are several shuttles that will take you to The Strip from the airport: Bell Trans, C.L.S., Grayline, etc.
The cost of these services per person (except lap children) start at $4.25 and shuttles run anywhere from
7am – 2am. Due to FAA regulations, the hotel is unable to provide baggage service.
Under 21 in Las Vegas
US Liquor Law: While Las Vegas has some of the most liberal liquor laws in the US, you must be at least
21 years of age to drink alcohol.
Gambling Laws: You must be a minimum of 21 years of age to gamble. People under the age of 21 are
prohibited from loitering in casinos.
Hotel restrictions for under 21 years: As it's illegal for under-21's to gamble, many Las Vegas hotels don't let
people less than 21 years of age check in unless they're with a person over the age of 21. This is not a
legal restriction imposed by the state - it's a choice the hotels may make.

Dear Scholarship Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco Church Music
Federation scholarship. The Federation is proud to sponsor a scholarship intended to assist you to
attend our annual conference.
The mission of our Federation is to harmoniously support parishes in our Metropolis with their
church music needs and perpetuate the rich musical tradition of our church. Therefore
scholarships are now available to help defray the cost of conference registration. Awarded
scholarships will be paid directly to the host parish conference committee.
Youth and adult choir singers and youth and adult chanters are welcome to apply. To be eligible,
one must:
 Be a member of a parish in our Metropolis
 Be in the adult choir, junior choir, chant group, or some other musical involvement
in your parish.
In addition to filling out the enclosed application, a letter is required from your parish priest and
your church musical director. Ask your parish priest and your musical director to each write a
letter and have these letters sent to:

To be considered for a scholarship, all requirements must be fulfilled and received by the
deadline. Preference will be given to applicants from parishes in the general vicinity of the
conference.
