The aim of this rally is to campaign against child child labor, domestic child labor and to promote environment safety. The idea of using bicycles is to protect environment. The girls from our homes, slums, and schools have participated actively in the rally. The children from rainbow homes have participated and enjoyed the ride by the bicycle. Fig.2: One of our girls interacting in the show May to Aug 2010 SNG NEWS LETTER 4 SANNIHITA NALLAGUTTA RAINBOW HOME 64th Independence day on August 15th On the occasion OF 64th Independence day sng children who were mainstreamed witnessed the flag hoisting for the first time as formal school going children. They sung lots of patriotic songs, participated in the theater activities very actively. Children who are not going to school participated in the flag hoisting of nalla gutta premises school. The cantonment area branch of Lions club members visted the children in Nallagutta home. They promised to help children and said they will do some contribution worth 1000/- every month for the sake of the children. They gifted plants to the home. Children and team members planted to campaign for the environment. They gave shoe to the govt school children. But they also promised to visit the children now and then to contribute some things in kind to the children. May to Aug 2010 SNG NEWS LETTER 6 SANNIHITA NALLAGUTTA RAINBOW HOME Neighborhood campaign on environment On 5th june children from nallagutta home started neighbor hood campaign for a week and promoted education for girls and protested against children forced to begging and as child labor. The week long campaign aimed at did a week long campaign in the neighbor hood to save energy, stop child labor and protect environment. Children raised their voices and gave slogans appealing to the community in and around of Nallagutta school to join the children in te govt schools, and not to engage girl children as domestic laborers, and stop polluting the streets with noice, and appealed tot he people to used bicycles for the small distances and greeted Fig.8,9 On 5th June children from nallagutta home started neighbor hood campaign for a week and promoted education for girls and protested against children forced to begging and as child labor. May to Aug 2010 SNG NEWS LETTER 7 SANNIHITA NALLAGUTTA RAINBOW HOME Campaign against reality show – a signature campaign at exhibition – necklace road The signature campaign was conducted in the exhibition by installing a stall of sannihita. The background work done by various organization by filing a petition against children being stressed up with competitions conducted by electronic TV channels. In this context we have collected around 500 signatures to make people aware about the concerns of the civil society organizations to empower and educate parents to discourage such shows that affect the child hood of the child in the name of skills development. Fig. 10,11,12: Explain camp against reality show ,Children playing a street theater for the first time in the exhibition Our children from the homes did a street theater in the exhibition and played skits on child labor, abuse of the girl children and the reality show. Children of our homes actively sung songs and interacted with elders and answered their questions about the homes, and the program of the campaign. May to Aug 2010 SNG NEWS LETTER 8 SANNIHITA NALLAGUTTA RAINBOW HOME HEALTH CAMP (7 April 2010) On the eve of World Dental Day, A free Dental Checkup camp was conducted at the Home high school. All the children from the home were taken to the camp and were tested for the dental problems. The children were made aware of the dental ailments and ways and means in maintaining good dental care. Fig.13,14,Doctors inspecting the children at the Health Camp conducted by Gandhi hospital team (HS) On the eve of this camp, children were provided with a free tooth paste and a tooth brush. They felt very happy about the camp. Irrespective of our gender, caste, race, religion, language, region, class, and abilities, we are equals, we should live in happiness growing up to eliminate these discriminations, and lead a life with happiness. We shall over come those forces that try to raise fundamental attitudes in us and oppose all those forces that create hostile situations in our lives. We human beings all should live equality, happiness. We believe so and we wish for such life. We will live believing that the pain of others is ours and we shall try our best to bring relief. Komaram Bheem is like the wild forest into which, far from the madding crowds of civilization, he was born. He is the very heart-throb of the Gond Tribals, whose hearts were in the forests of Adilabad. He revolted against the injustice meted out to his brother. He defied courts and the law, choosing to depend on the wild world. He took up cudgels against Nizam Nawab's soldiers, and fighting Babi Jhari, he breathed hislast. Fig.No.20,21 Children were waiting to before the theater. They were somehow not exhited about this. He is Komaram Bheem: The gonds' a tribal man who is a superman at the beginning of the 20th century, and a veritable 'Bheem' in the contemporary Gond’s history, a great valour that stood like a rock to protect tribal. He revered the beauty of Sombai, he was a man who never knew anything other than physical labour, and he was a beacon that lighted up the dark world of the Gonds with the flames of ideologies like the very sun lighting up the wilderness. May to Aug 2010 SNG NEWS LETTER Fig.21 12 SANNIHITA NALLAGUTTA RAINBOW HOME BIRTHDAYS BHANU BIRTHDAY Fig:22 Shruthi birth. Sannihita celebrated her birthday at Bolaram home. All the children of SNG wished her in the morning and staff members blessed her. Birthday girl felt very happy for happenings around her as it was a new experience for her. Children actively involved and enjoyed the celebration as this a new experience for many of them. They enjoyed every bit of it from cutting the birthday cake, sharing it among them, and wishing the birthday girl with gifts. They kept the atmosphere electric with dancing to the tunes played from the music system. The staff also enjoyed the day like a festival at Home. May to Aug 2010 SNG NEWS LETTER Fig.22 13 SANNIHITA NALLAGUTTA RAINBOW HOME FESTIVALS CELEBRATED AT HOME FRIEND SHIP DAY CELEBRATION Children with the help of the home mothers prepared hand bands to tie friendship bands to their friends in the home. They used threat, turmeric and colour paper to make the bands. Weekly two classess for half day on Saturday and Monday children have these classess. Children learnt many folk songs in these classes. They also learnt songs on telangana. They love to sing songs, and never have stage fear. In the figures 27 and 28 children are seen in their routine. These Committees include; a) Prayer Committee – the function of this committee is to see whether all the children are saying the prayer correctly or not. Jyothi observes it and informs the teacher. b) Discipline Committee – The committee observes whether all the students in the home are in good discipline,– especially in the class room. Krishnaveni is not showing interest in the same from the day she came back from the home we are trying change her committee after a discussion. c) Games Committee – The committee observes the involvement and performance of the children in games and other cultural activities. Ramulamma succeeded in this aspect. Ex; She takes care of games equipment and makes sure that they place them back in the respective places. d) Searching Committee - The purpose of this committee to provide visitors a safe feeling about their belongings when they are about leave. Ranjitha is good in this aspect. But others girls are not ready to take this responsibility as Ranjita is not in the home now. e) Cleaning Committee - To check the cleanliness of the home, Sangeetha very much interestingly did this job. She is not there so Lakshmi is taking care of this. f) Health Committee – This committee’s responsibility is to observe the health conditions of all the children in the home and educate them about the importance of healthy behavior, eating healthy food, and makes sure that any case of ill health of a girl in the home is informed. Renuka succeeded to some extent in this job, she also suffered minor illness in the recent past. g) Food Committee – The purpose of this committee is to keep an eye on the food habits of the children in the home. Indumathi did this for two days but after that she forgot about her duty. She needs to be reminded.
