Call for Mural Painting Proposals
Santropol Roulant is seeking proposals from artists who would like to paint the outside of our building to
illustrate the work that we do.

Santropol Roulant uses food as a vehicle to break social isolation between generations. Creatively and
collaboratively, we strengthen and nourish our local community with our novel approaches to active community
engagement, youth leadership, food security and social inclusion.
Applications will be selected based on three elements:
 Artistic merit
 Artist's experience painting similar scale projects
 Expression of Santropol Roulant's mission (intergenerational community building, food security,
youth engagement, social inclusion – see our Mission Statement), values (people as gifts, collaborative
leadership, coherence – see our Core Principles of Engagement) and activities (growing, cooking and
distributing fresh food, beekeeping, urban fruit harvesting, vermicomposting, fixing bicycles,
cultivating mushrooms)
Application process
- 3 - 5 applications will be selected on these criteria by the Mural Selection Committee
- These applications will be presented to the Santropol Roulant community and neighbours, and voted on to
select the successful proposal.
Please submit
- A sketch of the painting you propose to paint on the building
- Estimation of costs for materials
- A brief CV / letter / email listing your previous experience painting projects of similar scale. Please include
your website or other portfolio.
Contract details
- Paid contract for the artist ($1500)
- Separate budget available for materials, insurance costs and rental of equipment
- Submissions by teams of artists will also be considered.
- Surfaces to be painted: South-facing and West-facing walls of 111 Roy Est (corner Coloniale)
- Work to be executed over 7 days, between June 29th and July 10th
- Inauguration: 16 July 2015
