CENTER DIRECTOR
DEACON BRYAN HILTS
EVENING PRAYER FOR HEALING
1st Tuesday of the Month
Time: 7-8 p.m.
Healing is a movement
inside of us when we
are able to open our
tightened hands from
pain and allow the Spirit to touch our heart with compassion.
With peaceful music, Sr. Roselyn will lead us in a reflection to
create a sacred space for us to express our desires for wholeness
that God may gently touch us with healing love. Free will offering.
DRUMMING PRAYER CIRCLE
2nd Tuesday of the Month
Time: 6:30-8 p.m.
Drumming is a way to
pray with the rhythms of
our lives. With intention,
the sound awakens awe,
serenity, healing, peace and contentment. It can open us to the
work of the Spirit as the songs radiate as one with The Creator.
Drumming can connect us with the pulse of Earth. Drumming
can help break through separations and build bridges toward
our relationships with all that God has made. Free will offering.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
March 16, 2015
Praise and thanks be to God! The Board of Directors of St. Anthony Spirituality Center is pleased to announce
Deacon Bryan Hilts will be joining us as the Center Director and Sr. Jolynn Brehm has accepted the position of
our Spiritual Leader.
Deacon Bryan was ordained as a permanent deacon for the Diocese of La Crosse in 2012. He and his wife
Michelle live in Marathon and are active members of St. Mary’s Parish where Deacon Bryan serves and will
continue to serve as deacon. His relationship with and love for St. Anthony’s was born seven years ago when
he began attending monthly diaconate formation weekends here. Deacon Bryan brings his experience
ministering to the spiritual needs of others as a deacon and chaplain along with a background in both forprofit and non-profit business management and marketing. You may know Deacon Bryan from his work with
the Wausau Police Department and most recently with Catholic Charities. He was instrumental in establishing
and managing the Wausau Warming Center. Deacon Bryan will start his position in mid-April. He looks forward
to being part of the team to take St. Anthony’s to its 100-year anniversary and beyond.
Sr. Jolynn Brehm is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. She was born and raised in
Marathon County and has been coming to St. Anthony’s since 1968. Sr. Jolynn is a certified Spiritual Director.
She will be a familiar face to many at St. Anthony’s, since she has served on the directed retreat team here for
the past 25 years and also lead our Franciscan formation sessions last spring. Sr. Jolynn will join us as part
of the Resident Community in the near future and will assume the responsibilities of Spiritual Leader. She is
excited about continuing to share her Franciscan values with the Board, staff and volunteers and to nurture
spirituality in their lives and the lives of all our retreatants.
In addition to Deacon Bryan and Sr. Jolynn, Fr. Bob Streveler will be taking on a different role at St. Anthony’s
beginning this summer. Fr. Bob has been a part of the transition process since the first Advisory Group meeting
in July 2013. He went on to serve on the Steering Committee and then the Board of Directors all while serving
as pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish in Edgar and Holy Family Parish in Poniatowski. He has also been a
big part of the efforts to re-establish the gardens here at St. Anthony’s. Fr. Bob will retire this summer and
will assume the status of Senior Priest in the Diocese of La Crosse, with residence at St. Anthony’s. He will be
available here to celebrate Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation and to meet with retreatants.
God has been good to this ministry. We thank Him for the foundation laid by the Capuchins, for their many
years of dedication to this ministry, and for their tremendous generosity which made this transition possible.
We also appreciate the gifts shared by Barb Ceranski and Fr. Frank Corradi through their leadership the past
15 months, and we look forward to their contributions in the future. We are grateful for the many applicants
who offered their varied gifts and leadership experience for this ministry, as well as for your prayers and the
dedicated efforts of the Search Committee through this process. Most of all, we are blessed to have Deacon
Bryan, Sr. Jolynn and Fr. Bob to lead us forward. We know you will join us in welcoming them once again to St.
Anthony’s.

A DEEPER CONNECTION WITH LIFE.
The simple gift of food can nurture our souls as well as our
bodies. In this day of reflection, we will discover how food can
help us explore the way we experience our bodies, the earth, the
poor and the Divine. With activities, presentations, discussion
and rituals of mindfulness, gratitude, scarcity and abundance,
we will open ourselves to a deeper connection with life.
Presented by Vicki Lopez-Kaley. Cost includes continental
breakfast, noon meal and program fees. The day begins with
registration at 9 a.m. and concludes by 3 p.m.

THE ART AND HEART
OF THE SPIRITUAL LIFE
SILENT PREACHED RETREAT
with Fr. Albert Haase
June 21-26, 2015
Cost: $495
The spiritual life is the process of being transformed into the
image of Christ for the sake of others. In this retreat, Fr. Albert
Haase, OFM, will discuss this process of transformation and the
challenge it presents to break free from the agenda of the false
self. Important aspects such as one’s image of God, resisting
temptations, living in the present moment,
and the challenge of forgiveness will also be
discussed. This retreat is loosely based upon
Fr. Albert’s bestselling books and DVDs.
This retreat begins with registration at 5:30 p.m. and supper at
7 p.m. on Sunday. Concludes with noon meal on Friday.

for private consultation and prayer. “In Step 3 we make the
decision to turn our will and lives over to the care of God. Only
then can we truly be free. Let Go and Let God.” Retreat begins

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION
SPRING IS HERE!
Wednesday, April 22, 2015 | 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. OR 5:30-7:45 p.m.
SPRING IS UNFOLDING LIFE ALL AROUND US.
The miracle of spring is unfolding life all around us. The birds song and warmth
calls to us to come outside. Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin moved congress
to declare April 22 Earth Day 45 years ago. Eight hundred years ago, St. Francis
of Assisi celebrated Earth by calling all creatures brother and sister. He knew the
wisdom that Earth and Sun teach about the respectful balance among all the parts
of Earth which brings peace. How do we experience brotherhood and sisterhood
with one another? Spend time together; food, noticing, hearing and stories work
together for a balanced relationship with Earth.
Register by Monday, April 20 by calling the Front Office.
Facilitated by Sr. Roselyn Heil, FSPA
Suggested Donation: $10
BOOK DISCUSSION SERIES
FALLING UPWARD:
A SPIRITUALITY FOR THE TWO HALVES OF LIFE
June 10 & 24, 2015 and continuing the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month
Time: 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Facilitators: Sr. Roselyn Heil, FSPA, and Janet Dubec, OFS
ARE YOU IN YOUR SECOND HALF OF LIFE?
Bushmen storytellers talk about two kinds of hunger, the physical hunger and the Great Hunger:
the hunger for meaning. Now that you are retired or considering retiring, what will you be for the
rest of your life? Our culture’s current perspective doesn’t give us a whole lot of meaning. Yet, with
the many challenges our world is being confronted with, we need our elders’ wisdom more than
ever. So how can we use the skills of the first half of life when we are facing losses such as physical
diminishment, and mortality? How do we become a mentor, steward or grandparent? Richard Rohr’s book offers us opportunities
to explore together what sometimes feels like a world upside down from what we had learned so well in the first half of life. Come
having read chapters 1 & 2. We well determine our pace of 1 or 2 chapters at a time in the first session.
Join us in a gathering of fellow seekers to share stories that inspire and reclaim the dignity, grace and authentic power that true
elder-hood opens up to us. No registration required. Free will offering.
