CANADIAN HOSPITALITY FOUNDATION 2015 SCHOLARSHIP Culinary (1-year) Scholarship Areas of Studies: Culinary, Cook, Pre-Chef, Professional Cook Level 2 Who Can Apply College students currently enrolled in a one-year (minimum eight (8) months) culinary certificate program for the above mentioned areas of studies. Applicants must not have received any other Canadian Hospitality Foundation scholarships Applicants must be Canadian citizens or Landed Immigrants How to Apply Application forms are available at the College’s Awards office (see list of participating colleges at www/thechf.ca/scholarships). Submit the completed form, along with the following documents, to the Awards Officer or your instructor before the deadline date. Missing, falsified or incomplete documents will be grounds for elimination. Letter(s) of recommendation from a current faculty member and/or school administrator must be signed and must include address, telephone and email address. Letter(s) of recommendation from past or present employers (reference letters for volunteer activities will also be considered) must be signed and must include address, telephone and email address. The Foundation reserves the right to check all references. All documents submitted in French must include an English translation. Deadline for Submission Please kindly check with your school for deadline date. Criteria Applications are to be judged on the following criteria. Points assigned to each of the criteria (from a total of 100 points) are as follows: Work experience (25): based on quality and length of work experience with extra points for foodservice, hospitality, and culinary-related experience and for increased levels of responsibility Scholarship record (20): based on grade point average Leadership and ability to get along with others (25): based on work experience, letters of reference and responses to application questions. Professional promise (20): based on work experience, letters of reference and responses to application questions Discretionary points (10): given to the discretion of each judge and based amongst other things on quality of application (neatness, imagination and effort put into the presentation). Payment of Scholarship Money The scholarship money will be paid in its entirety in November of the year the scholarship is awarded. The Foundation will seek confirmation from the college of the recipient’s graduation date on the year of the scholarship, before payment is made. Payment is made directly to the college for credit towards the recipient’s tuition fees. If the tuition fee has already been paid in full, the money will then be paid to the student by the college.
