The City of Spruce Grove seeks a dynamic Supervisor to provide overall
leadership and direction to the staff in the Utilities section of Public
Works. Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Supervisor of
Utilities is responsible for managing the operation and maintenance
activities associated with City water storage, pumping and distributions,
wastewater collection and treatment systems. You will manage the day-today requirements of the City’s solid waste operations contract and recycling
operations at the City’s Eco Centre. In addition you will provide back-up
services and data for the Capital Region Parkland Water Services
Commission.
Applicants are required to have:

A minimum of ten year’s experience in a municipal utility setting,
ideally in a unionized environment, with five years of proven
leadership skills at a supervisory level.
A valid Alberta Environment certification at Level III in both Water
Distribution and Wastewater Collection and a Level I or higher in
Wastewater Treatment.
Knowledge of the Alberta Environment Protection and Enhancement
Act; Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality; Standards and
Guidelines for Municipal Waterworks, Wastewater and Storm
Drainage Systems; Standard Methods for the Examination of Water
and Wastewater and other prescribed Public Health requirements.
Well-developed computer skills using Microsoft Office.
The ability to develop positive working relationships with City staff,
Regional Utility groups and other public agencies.
A valid Alberta Class 5 Operators License.
APWA – Public Works Supervisor Accreditation and/or an
Engineering Technology diploma are considered assets.
