Peter S. Angood, MD,
has been Chief Executive
Officer and President of
the American Association
for Physician Leadership®
since 2012. Previously, Dr.
Angood was the inaugural
Chief Patient Safety Officer
and a Vice-President for The Joint Commission where he oversaw the National Patient
Safety Goals and other enterprise-wide,
international patient safety initiatives. He
also completed a 2-year engagement with
the National Quality Forum and National
Priorities Partnership as Senior Advisor for
Patient Safety before assuming the role of
Chief Medical Officer with the Patient Safety
Organization of GE Healthcare. During these
engagements Dr. Angood continued intermittent work with the WHO Patient Safety initiative after helping lead early development
of the WHO Collaborating Center for Patient
Safety Solutions.
John R. Combes, MD,
is a Senior Vice President
at the American Hospital
Association (AHA) and the
President of the Center
for Healthcare Governance
(CHG), an AHA affiliate
organization dedicated
to advancing excellence, innovation and
accountability in healthcare governance.
Dr. Combes also leads the AHA’s Physician
Leadership Forum providing education, tools
and information to encourage physician
leadership development. Dr. Combes serves
as Senior Fellow at The Hospital Research
and Education Trust (HRET), and in that role
focuses on quality and leadership issues in
Patient Safety, End of Life Care and Clinical
Performance Improvement.
Stanley W. Stead, MD,
MBA, is CEO and Founder
of the Stead Health
Group, a small consultancy
focused on improving
strategic, operational and
financial performance in
healthcare. Dr. Stead is a
national leader in healthcare economics and
healthcare reform. He has intimate working
knowledge in the coding and payment systems for health services, as well as information technology and quality healthcare. In
2013 Stan was elected as the American
Society of Anesthesiologist’s Vice President
for Professional Affairs and has served the
ASA along with service to key national
healthcare committees (AMA CPT, AMA
RUC, AHRQ) in codifying, valuing and
measuring quality of physician services.
