FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BankSouth Welcomes Savannah Banking Leaders, Kay Ford and Laura Moore
Savannah, GA: BankSouth announces their Savannah operations will be led by Kay Ford and Laura
Moore. Moore joins the team as the SVP and Savannah Market President. Ford was elected into the
company’s Board of Directors on March 17th and will serve as the Chairman of the Savannah
Advisory Board. Both professionals bring extensive and impressive banking experience, as well as a
deep history with the community.
“Laura and Kay are integral to our strategic plans. BankSouth is focused on bringing relationship
banking back to Savannah, and we really got to know these two as local leaders with high levels of
community involvement, knowledge, and understanding. When you think about banking in Savannah,
their names automatically come to mind. We are confident that their direction and local decision
making will allow us to successfully implement BankSouth’s relationship banking model.” said Harold
Reynolds, CEO and Chairman, BankSouth.
Ford, a Savannah native, brings over four decades of banking experience and is known for her
extensive community involvement. She remarked "BankSouth does banking the way I like to do
banking. They are focused on the individual and their relationships. BankSouth has the ability to be
nimble and make quick local decisions. This is banking the way it used to be, and I am excited to be
a member of the BankSouth team.”
Moore has over 22 years of banking experience in the financial industry serving in roles ranging from
a Commercial Relationship Manager, Credit Manager, and Business Development Officer. She is
extremely involved in the community and is a respected member of the Savannah banking market.
“I am impressed by the BankSouth culture which focuses on the customer. I believe this principle has
been widely forgotten in today’s financial markets. It is why BankSouth has been successful for
decades, especially throughout the recession,” said Moore. “It is refreshing to be a part of an
organization that believes in local decision making to meet customers’ needs and that goes above
and beyond to provide superior customer service.”
“Customer service and relationship banking are fundamental to BankSouth and cannot be matched
by the current competition. The current banking environment is at a unique juncture: too many banks
are controlled by distant investors while customers are looking for a trusted partner to serve their
banking needs. Today, 80% of the Savannah market share is controlled by national and regional
banks, and it’s time to bring relationship banking back to Georgia’s oldest city,” Reynolds stated.
BankSouth will be located at 18 West Bryan Street on Johnson Square and is scheduled to open later
this spring.
