Tour to the National Portrait Gallery’s exhibition, “Elaine de Kooning
Portraits,” and other Washington, DC attractions, October 17-18, 2015
Please join us for a two-day excursion to Washington, DC,
where we will visit the acclaimed exhibition, “Elaine de
Kooning Portraits,” at the National Portrait Gallery. Many
of Elaine’s most important subjects—including her husband
Willem de Kooning, art critic Harold Rosenberg, poet Allen
Ginsberg, choreographer Merce Cunningham and President
John F. Kennedy—are represented in this, the most
comprehensive show of her portraits ever assembled.
According to art critic Tim Keane, it brilliantly illuminates
the career of “an American artist who redirected techniques
of twentieth-century vanguard painting into a form of
portraiture that is as much about the rhythms and processes
of human recognition as it is about the diverse characters
who were her subjects.” Our tour of the galleries on
Saturday will be personally conducted by the exhibition’s
curator, Brandon Brame Fortune.
The tour price includes round-trip transportation via deluxe Hampton Jitney motor coach, driver
and escort gratuities, one night hotel accommodations (including room taxes and baggage
handling), one dinner, one breakfast, and a half-day tour of Washington attractions before
returning to the Hamptons via Manhattan on Sunday.
A non-refundable deposit of $150 per person is due by August 1. To make your reservation,
call Krista Biedenbach at the Pollock-Krasner House, 631-324-4929. Credit cards accepted.
