Monash (Springvale): Have your say on how to improve Victoria’s Charter of Human Rights The Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 (the Charter) protects 20 rights and freedoms of all people in Victoria. It requires state and local government authorities to respect and promote human rights when they serve the community. The Attorney-General, the Hon Martin Pakula MP, has appointed Michael Brett Young to conduct an independent review of the Charter and report back to the Government by 1 September 2015. The aim of the review is to see how the Charter could be improved and whether it meets the needs of all Victorian communities.
