PRESS RELEASE OPEN STUDIOS NOTTS 2015 - ‘BRINGING ARTISTS INTO VIEW’ Nottinghamshire’s county-wide Open Studios events are running once more, from 3 May to 14 June, with over 200 artists & makers taking part. Alongside the events is an exhibition at Rufford Craft Centre (3 May to 7 June, preview 3 May, 2-4pm), showcasing the work of participating artists, shining a light on the creative process and pointing to where and when their studios are open. The public are invited to visit the artists in their studios and other venues, to view their art & craft and see demonstrations of their work. Whilst many artists will be inviting you into their studio spaces, others are clustering together to show a variety of work in single venues and a few established groups have a festival feel. Amidst the variety of settings, many artists will hold ‘have-a-go’ workshops or demonstrate working practices – all offer ‘opportunities to see and buy contemporary art and craft’. A brochure describing the events is available in libraries and other outlets around the county. The brochure outlines what is open in different areas, covering: Mattersey, Sutton-cum-Lound, Retford, Askham, Laneham Worksop, Harley Artists, Thoresby Park, Edwinstowe Art & Craft Centre Southwell, Upton Studios, Newark-on-Trent Mansfield, Ravenshead, Annesley Artists, Papplewick Pumping Station Patchings Artists & Festival Gedling Artists at Burton Joyce & Lowdham Bingham Brinsley Artists & Attenborough/Beeston/Chilwell Artists Trail Lady Bay Arts Festival The initiative is supported by Nottinghamshire County Council Arts Development Service.
