After School
Dance Program
What is the afternoon dance program?
How many students in a dance class ?
Who will be the dance teacher?
In 2015, Broadbeach State School is proud
to offer quality dance classes on a Friday
afternoon after school in the James Centre.
There will be a maximum of 20 students in
each class, so returning the expression of
interest attached will be vital to secure a
place.
Commencing her training at 3 years of
age, Nicole progressed to complete her
dance exams in Ballet, Tap and Jazz with
the Australian Teachers of Dancing
(A.T.O.D.) to an Advanced level.
These dance classes will be taught by
Nicole Lister, a qualified dance teacher who
has performed on the Gold Coast and in
Sydney. The classes will be predominantly
jazz and lyrical dance. Students will be
taught professionally and will be excellently
prepared for group Eisteddfod performance
as well as school/community performances
throughout the year.
A waiting list will be created to allow all
children an opportunity to be a part of these
wonderful dance lessons as spaces become
available.
When will dance classes be offered?
The Junior Dance Classes (Years 2-3) will
be conducted from 3.15pm-4.15pm and the
Senior Dance Classes (Years 4-6) will be
conducted from 4.30pm- 5.30pm.
What is the cost of the dance lessons?
Nicole will offer the first lesson for free so
parents/children can be sure they wish to
continue dance training/lessons with her.
Subsequent lessons are $8.00 each to be
paid in 5 week instalments ($40.00) or 10
week instalments ($80.00). This reduced
cost for quality dance classes will be
available to Broadbeach State School
students only.
When will the lessons commence?
If you have been successful in securing a
place in the program, you will be notified
before the first class commencing on Friday
27 February. You must return your
expression of interest form to the office by
Monday 23 February. There will be no
charge for the first lesson.
What does my child need to wear?
Children with jazz shoes should wear these
but they are not essential. As with a lot of
dances, jazz clothes should be fairly close
fitting but allow for a full range of movement.
Alongside the A.T.O.D, Nicole studied with
the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.)
also successfully completing her exams to
a high level. She then began teaching as
a senior dance teacher at a private dance
studio supporting students of varying ages
and abilities through their Ballet, Tap and
Jazz exams all with a 100% success
rate. For the majority of her teaching
years, she has been in charge of the
entire Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and
Performance Group classes.
