Values Vouchers
This term, we will promote the Values for Australian Schooling and our Brookfield State School
qualities of Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be Responsible through Values Vouchers. Students will
receive “Values Vouchers” when they display our values and qualities in their playground behaviour and choices. Each week, Values Vouchers recipients will be drawn on assembly and will
receive a prize to acknowledge their quality choices.
Last week we focused on the values Integrity, Care and Compassion. Miss Noonan spoke
about the importance of being compassionate and caring for our friends.
Our Values Vouchers winners for the week were Freya (1A), Ava (1A) and Clayton (3A) – well
done! Freya, Ava and Clayton receive a voucher for an ice block from the tuckshop. The
Most Respectful Class on assembly this week went to Year 2B. Students in Year 2B showed
respect by being on time to assembly, sitting with their legs crossed and paying attention to
the speakers, well done Mrs Weigel and Year 2B students.

Cross Country 2015
What a great day the Cross Country Carnival turned out to be, only a sprinkle of rain and a
beautiful cool temperature for the kids to run in.
Thank you to all the parents and teachers who helped with setting up the course, standing
around the course directing children and packing everything up at the end. The Year 6 students did a great job setting up, distributing stickers, directing children and packing up.
A big thanks also needs to go to Mr Leaman who spent countless hours mowing, trimming and
preparing the oval and surrounds for the day.
Lastly, a HUGE thank you to Lizel Moore and all the parents who come down to the oval before school to train the children. This is incredibly generous of these parents to give their
time and effort to help our children keep fit and healthy. Thank you!

Uniform Shop
Band uniform is in stock and can be ordered via flexischools or at the Uniform shop first
week of next term in preparation for Anzac Day. Winter uniforms have been ordered and
should arrive early in term 2. Thank you to all the volunteers who have helped during term 1.
Tuckshop
The first term has flown by with not too many hiccups! That is primarily due to all of you who
have volunteered your time on roster, with home-baking and with donations of essential pantry items. You ladies (and the odd gentleman!) have been fantastic so a huge thank you to you
all.
We do still have a couple of spaces to fill on our roster so if you happen to have a couple of
hours to spare, please consider putting your name down for a tuckshop shift once a month.
The kids love seeing mum or dad at the window and I have heard the comment “that was fun”
by parents on several occasions after a busy day feeding the starving children of
Brookfield!!!
Other ways to help if you cannot make a shift in the Tuckshop is to provide home baking once
a month, or to donate items that we need to make all the homemade meals we provide.
Finally, I am gathering an emergency contact number list of those who can help if I need it in
a hurry, so if you have a bit of time and could help in the tuckshop for an hour or so in an
emergency situation, I would love to hear from you (please include your preferred day if
applicable).

What's that Skip? Your off to have a kip?
That's right, the Bush Dance for 2015 is all over and its time for Skippy to have a great big
rest. For those that came along we hope you all had a fantastic time. It was wonderful to
see so many smiling laughing faces and brilliant dancing. Some photos have been posted on
the school's Facebook page.
On behalf of Nerolee and myself we would like to thank all our volunteers who made the
night a success. Isn't it amazing what we can achieve when we pull together.

Happy holidays – I think we all deserve a break!
What a great way to end the term, last Friday night we held our bush dance – it was a huge
success, a great family fun night, thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended! Huge thank you to
everyone who pitched in and helped in the lead up and on the night. This function was led by
Natalie Murray and Nerolee Huxham. These ladies did a superb job coordinating and organising this event.
Another big thank you goes to Aneta Zielinski and Louisa Wijacha, in the last 3 weeks our
fundraising coordinators have organised the Brooky bites dessert stall, hot cross bun drive
and the cross country cup cake stall – all to raise funds to support and benefit our children.
Thank you also, to Bec Dorman who has agreed to take on the P&C Sub-Committee - employment related matters role. All P&C roles are now filled. Wishing everyone a safe and happy
Easter, the next P&C meeting will be after the holidays on Tuesday 21st April at 7pm in B

My name is Ashleigh and I’m the Assistant Coordinator at Brookfield PCYC. I am still filling
in for Kristy for another two weeks as she is still temporarily filling another role outside of
the service. I have had a fantastic time getting to know everybody better and I am looking

What’s on:
Coaching clinics for all ages with classes specifically structured to cater for the following
little kiddies aged 3 to 5 with focus on basic tennis, hand eye coordination, spacial awareness, balance, catching etc

Red Ball – beginner tennis with little nets and bigger softer balls
•
Orange Ball – intermediate tennis with smaller balls that are a little harder
•
Yellow Ball – players who’ve been playing for a while looking for some great drills, game
play and tactical instruction.
Tournament on the final day with prizes and trophies on offer.
The clinic is a great way for your kids to get ahead on their game to improve for next terms
Inter Schools Tennis Challenge. Programs are targeting all skill levels and are designed to develop fundamental skills as well as introducing advanced concepts to more experienced players. For most kids this clinic equates to an entire terms coaching in one week as many kids get
one hour coaching a week – so its great value for money at $125 for the week.
We will hold a sausage sizzle on the Friday after the clinic ends.
