Overview
The vCenter Operations Manager content pack for vCenter Log Insight contain dashboards,
extracted fields, saved queries, and alerts that are used to analyze all logs redirected from a
vCenter Operations Manager instance.
The vCenter Operations Manager content pack provides a way to analyze all logs redirected
from a vCenter Operations Manager instance. The content pack contains dashboards, queries
and alerts to provide diagnostics and troubleshooting capabilities to the vCenter Operations
Manager administrator. The dashboards are grouped according to the major components of
vCenter Operations Manager like Analytics, UI, and Adapters to provide better manageability.
You can enable various alerts to send notification events in vCenter Operations Manager and emails to administrators.
Compatibility
The vCenter Operations Manager content pack requires vCenter Log Insight version 1.5 and
vCenter Operations Manager version 5.8.x.

Integration with vCenter Log Insight
You must enable the redirection of the logs from vCenter Operations Manager to a vCenter Log
Insight instance. Complete the following steps to configure the redirection of the logs.
1. Log into the VM running vCenter Operations Manger and locate the shell script in the
following location.
/usr/lib/vmware-vcops/user/conf/install/
2. Run the following command from this location.
vcops_loginsight_admin.sh { configure <loginsight_ip> |
reconfigure
<new_loginsight_ip> | enable-log-redirection |
disable-log-redirection
}
Configuration options include the following.

Example Commands
Run the following commands on the vCenter Operations Manger vApp from the path location:
/usr/lib/vmware-vcops/user/conf/install/
To configure the redirection of logs to a Log Insight instance, run the following command:
vcops_loginsight_admin.sh
configure <loginsight_ip>
To reconfigure the redirection of logs to another Log Insight Instance, run the following
command:
vcops_loginsight_admin.sh
reconfigure <loginsight_ip>
To enable log redirection to an already configured vCenter Log Insight instance, run the
following command:
vcops_loginsight_admin.sh
enable-log-redirection
To enable log redirection to an already configured vCenter Log Insight instance, run the
following command:
vcops_loginsight_admin.sh disable-log-redirection

Importing a Content pack into vCenter Log
Insight
You must import the content pack into a vCenter Log Insight instance to view vCenter
Operations Manager dashboards, queries, and alerts. To import a content pack, see Import a
Content Pack from the vCenter Operations Manager documentation.
