The Art of Ironman Success
Opening General Session featuring Mark Allen
How can you create certainty in an uncertain environment? Keep defeat
from stopping you or, better yet, use it as helpful feedback to effect
change that results in ultimate victory? Where can you draw strength
from when you want to quit? These are just a few of the many difficult
questions Mark Allen had to answer in his seven-year journey from
defeat to ultimate victory at the Hawaiian Ironman. Find out his strategies
for dealing with change and unexpected challenge, how to make a
comeback when success seems impossible, and helpful practices to
become a true champion in your personal and professional pursuits.

AT
The Ironman Triathlon of Hawaii, believed to be the most difficult
one-day sporting event in the world, starts with a 2.4-mile ocean
swim, followed by 112 miles of cycling, and finishes with a 26.2mile marathon. After his first six attempts at the event, where
casualties ranged from flat tires to internal bleeding, Mark Allen
allowed each defeat to galvanize his commitment to fulfilling
his dream of becoming the Ironman Champion. On his seventh
attempt, Mark won; he then went on to win a total of six Ironman titles in six attempts.
He completed a 15-year career in the world of elite athletics with a 90% top-three finish
record. He was named “Triathlete of the Year” six times, and in 2012, was voted “The
Greatest Endurance Athlete of All Time” in a worldwide poll conducted by ESPN.

Who are you Becoming as a Leader?
Luncheon General Session featuring Jonathan Fanning
Who are you becoming as a leader, parent, citizen, athlete, coach, and
friend? Who are you helping those around you to become? Drawing
from the lives of servant leaders who have left a lasting positive impact
on the world around them, Jonathan Fanning will share the ingredients
that the greatest leaders all have in common and a simple formula for
enhancing leadership in your own personal and professional life.
Jonathan Fanning helps organizations and individuals reach
their full potential. He works to create excellence within
companies, teams, and organizations that are not willing to
settle for “good enough.” Becoming a leader with character,
passion, and purpose is at the core of Fanning’s message,
programs, businesses, and life. It took several “frying pan”
moments, including a traumatic car accident in the middle of
Fanning’s rapid rise as a management consultant to Fortune 500 companies, to
trigger a quest for a deeper sense of purpose, meaning, and significance. “Who are
you Becoming?” became central to Jonathan’s life, businesses, and speaking.

The harsh reality is that over 100,000 seniors end up in the emergency
room each year due to adverse drug events. Could your residents be in
the medication danger zone, albeit inadvertently and unintentionally?

that place them at greater risk for medication hazards. Join this nurse
and geriatric pharmacist duo for a discussion of best practices for
educating residents and ensuring their safety, as well as collaborating
with doctors, pharmacists, and pharmacy consultants in a team
approach to safe medication management.
