The Association of Carolina Emergency Response and Injury Prevention (ACERIP) is a student led organization that offers EMT‐ Basic certification classes every semester. Registration is open for our summer class that runs during both summer sessions. Classes are held on campus and are offered to students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The TRYUMPH Research Program at the University of North Carolina seeks qualified and highly motivated pre‐health and/or medical students to join our research team. Successful volunteers will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team which serves as the data coordinating center for several multi‐site, multimillion dollar studies as well as a pilot study enrolling participants at UNC. Volunteers may also gain first‐hand experience interviewing patients at UNC Hospital. The expected commitment is 10‐12 hours per week, with occasional weekend coverage. The goal of the TRYUMPH Research program is to advance understanding of the biological processes mediating recovery after trauma, and to use the latest scientific technology to develop individually tailored interventions that promote rapid recovery and prevent chronic symptom development. The BURN Experiences Study: A research study examining patient characteristics associated with immediate and long term outcomes after thermal burn injury. The Women’s Health Study: A research study evaluating chronic musculoskeletal pain and PTSD outcomes among adult sexual survivors. African American CRASH Study: A research study examining chronic pain development in African Americans after motor vehicle collision (MVC).
