Introduction
Haven’t you ever wondered how girls get those perfect curls from a flat iron? The
thought of a flat iron creating curls is just so ironic. Trust me it is easier than it
sounds and I will tell you exactly how to accomplish this ironic task. Chi is a very
well-known flat iron brand but it is not required that you have this to have that
beautifully curled look. When you are going to do this task please make sure that
you are somewhere that is flat iron safe. I would suggest doing it in your bathroom
in front of a mirror.

If you have ever wanted to be taught step by step how exactly to make beautiful
curls with a flat iron? Is so then this manual is for you! I know the process seems
hard but it is much easier than it seems. With these easy seventeen steps we will
have you looking like a beauty queen.
Disclaimer/Warning
Do not have any water around while doing this process. If you were to be in water or
touch water while using these hair styling tools you would be electrocuted because it
is plugged into an outlet. We do not want you to get electrocuted!

Materials
Before we can actually curl your hair we must collect all the materials required to
get this process started. First you will need a blow dryer because if you don’t have
your hair dried then you cannot begin this or it will fry your hair.

Secondly you need a hair brush, without that this could end up in a disaster!
Chapter One
Obviously we need the instrument to actually curl your hair, a flat iron.
Hair clips or hair ties will be needed to spate your hair so you don’t get
overwhelmed in the process of all of this!

A heat serum of some type is recommended to protect your hair.

Lastly you will need a mirror so that you can see what exactly you are doing.

Blow drying
If your hair is not dry go ahead and plug in your blow dryer, turn it on and blow dry
your hair. If you can brush your hair as you are blow drying it then it will help your
hair become a little straighter and less frizzy!

Plug in your flat iron.
Turning on
Turn that flat iron on and let it start to heat up. Some flat irons have a rotating
wheel for you to decide what temperature your flat iron is set at so if this is the case
with you then look on the box of the flat iron to see what would be the appropriate
temperature for this process.

Brushing your hair
While your flat iron is heating up go ahead and brush your hair out. It shouldn’t
take more than about 5 minutes for your flat iron to heat up.

Heat serum
Continuing to prep your hair next put the heat serum in your hair. Depending on if
you have a heat serum that is a spray or oil there will be different approaches to
applying the serum to the hair
If you have the spray make sure you spray about a foot away from your hair and
evenly throughout it. Don’t spray just at the top or bottom cover all layers of the
hair!
If you have the oil it goes a long way so you should need more than a dimes worth.
Rub it in your hands and then brush through your hair with your hands to evenly
disperse the oil.

Section off
To keep from getting overwhelmed we are going to curl our hair by sections. I
typically split my hair in half and then from there section it off going from the top
layer to underneath leaving your very underneath layer to start with. If you are
anything like me I still have to split my underneath layer in half. You don’t want to
have too big of a section because then your hair might not curl. Use your hair
clips/ties for this!

Check the temperature
By now your flat iron should be heated to the perfect temperature. To make sure it
has heated up you can put your hands near the straighter and you should be able to
feel the heat that the flat iron is putting off. If your flat iron is heated then continue
on if not wait till it is ready.
** Keep in mind before we start that the faster you curl your hair the tighter the
curls will be
Getting down to business
Let’s get to business
Left side
Take a piece of your bottom layer of hair on the left side of your head and with the
flat iron straighten it just as if you would if you were actually straightening it till
about half way down. Once you have gotten about half way down rotate the flat iron
with the hair clamped in it away from your face which will be counter clock wise
just once and then pull the flat iron straight down.

Repeat
Repeat step ten until the whole left side of your hair is completely curled.
Right Side
For the right side you will take a piece of the bottom section and straighten it half
way down just as you did on the left side. Once you get to this point you will rotate
the flat iron with hair clamped in it the opposite way from the left which will be
towards your face/ clock-wise.
Rotate

Repeat again
Repeat step twelve just as you did with steps ten and eleven till the right side of
your hair is done
Hair Spray
Once you have curled all the sections of your hair spray your hair spray throughout.
Do as you did with the heat serum spray and don’t spray it too close or in just one
particular place.
Tight or lose curls?
Do your best to keep your hands out of your hair because it will help the curls stay
longer and keep them from falling. If your curls are tighter than you were wanting
them then run your brush through your hair and it should make the curl drop
noticeably.
