With Medicare cutting an estimated $1.7 Billion in reimbursements in the last two fiscal years combined with the $3,700
manual medical review process putting virtually all part B reimbursement at risk, the need for solid, consistently skilled
documentation is at an all time high. The Affordable Care Act brings further cuts to reimbursement, tightening the belt
further on companies that employ therapists across the nation. Skilled service providers that cannot document properly
are a liability to their employers and ultimately, themselves.
Documentation Bootcamp is a one-day workshop designed to take participants through the steps to denial-proof
documentation. Participants will learn how to interpret assessment data for patients on Medicare, set realistic functional
goals, and identify effective interventions to facilitate improvement of function based on accurate assessment data. By
strengthening therapy documentation skills, patients are protected from premature discharge from deserved care; extra
demands upon therapists due to denied claims that go through challenging appeals are prevented; and stable levels of
reimbursement for companies that employ therapists are ensured.
About Your Program Instructor
For more than 23 years John Adamson, PT, M.Div., has worked in physical therapy in a variety of skilled nursing, acute
care and home care settings as a clinical specialist, consultant and trainer. Mr. Adamson is involved in ongoing chart
audits for state and federal compliance, as well as for reimbursement, and has assisted in Medicare audits, including
ADRs and appeals. Mr. Adamson is a credentialed documentation auditor and recognized as a Master Clinician in
documentation and Complex Disease Management, as well as a Geriatric Enhanced Modality Specialist.
In his current role as Clinical Specialist, Mr. Adamson is responsible for ongoing oversight and instruction of therapists
and nursing professionals in the areas of vestibular and balance disorders, continence, dementia, diabetes, pain
management, seating and positioning, wound care management and modalities utilization. Mr. Adamson has also
developed a PRN clinical orientation manual and contributed to an orthopedic course for the post-acute patient.
One of his primary goals is to instruct therapists on the practice of consistent, solid and irrefutable documentation
to substantiate medical necessity and prevent denials. Mr. Adamson received his degree in Physical Therapy from
Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.

continuing education units that have been previously approved during the current licensing period
by another agency such as a fellow state licensing board shall be acceptable to the Examining
Board for the State of Delaware as appropriate CEUs. This course has been approved by the
Arkansas Board of Physical Therapy. MD: This course has been reviewed, meets the basic criteria
of and has been approved by the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for 0.6
CEUs. NJ: This course has been approved by the New Jersey State Board of Physical Therapy
Examiners for 6.0 Contact Hours, approval # 809-2014. NY: Summit Professional Education has
been approved by the New York State Education Department Office of the Professions Board
for Physical Therapy to offer continuing education for physical therapists and physical therapist
assistants. This workshop is offered for 7.2 contact hours. PA: This course was submitted to the
Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy for approval however the PA PT Board does not
approve administrative courses and that is how they are likely to view this content (6.0 hours).
Attend this course for the content and not because you need the CE credits.
Nursing Home Administrators - Summit Professional Education is a Certified Sponsor of
professional continuing education with the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator
Boards (NAB) and has approved this program for 6.0 clock hours, approval # 2022016-6.00-12337in. State licensure boards have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses.
