Many of these clients are experiencing myofascial pain. Myofascial restrictions can influence posture and movement patterns with symptoms sometimes appearing months or years after a trauma or stressful event. By the time the individual gets to the health professional, the minor soft tissue dysfunctional problems may now be covered with layers of acute and chronic problems. Standard treatment protocols using medication, exercise and modalities may fail to address the problem effectively. It is best diagnosed and treated with the skills of a manual therapy practitioner. This dynamic workshop provides trigger point techniques and implementation methods that will allow therapists to provide patients with myofascial release interventions that create lasting results. You will learn the highly effective pain management techniques of the Travell/Simons’ methods with an emphasis on restoring balanced posture and efficient movement patterns using myofascial trigger point procedures. You will participate in hands-on evaluation and elimination of trigger point labs which will demonstrate how to use your proprioceptive senses to detect changes in tissue mobility, texture and tone. You will review precipitating and perpetuating factors and return to your practice able to create an effective rehabilitation program to help relieve persistent pain, loss of function and movement impairments.
