BACKGROUND
Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF) is one of the nation's largest non-profit providers of housing and services for older adults,
persons with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged families.
OPPORTUNIT Y
2008 - The Desmet Retirement Community was in serious need of an
emergency call system update. Faced with a very large price tag to
bring the necessary enhancements to their residents, they turned to
CareConnect by ESCO Technologies for a solution. Their older call
system was reliant upon a system of call bells and lights with no
pendant coverage and very few features and functionality. The
community provided less than 50 channels of television to the residents
as part of the rent. The residents paid market prices for telephone and
Internet.
SOLUTION
2008 - ESCO Technologies installed a modern emergency call system,
residential telephone system and a satellite television package offering
them brand new features and functionality. ESCO provided a wireless,
state-of-the-art nurse call system complete with pull stations in all units
and common areas as well as personal pendants for all residents that
alert campus wide. The community now has active and passive
check-in options, pressure pads for wheel chairs and bed sensors in
addition to the standard pull stations and pendant coverage. The care
giving staff utilizes an automated reporting system to quickly identify
residents who have not checked in for the day. The ED receives these
automated reports as well as call escalations right to her smart phone.
The satellite television package provides 72 programming channels as
well as an in-house television channel that broadcasts the weekly
calendar and activities.
