This qualification provides the knowledge and skills needed
to work as a Dental Technician. It covers the construction of
dentures, bridges, crowns and other dental appliances and the
repair and modification of these appliances.

After achieving HLT50512 Diploma of Dental Technology,
students may continue their studies by enrolling in the following

or recognition, if what they have learned at work, from other
programs, courses, from life experience or training provided
at work is relevant to the course. SCEI recognises the AQF
qualifications and statements of attainment issued by other

Entry requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for this course.
To ensure an appropriate learning opportunity, candidates need to
demonstrate a capacity to undertake study at Diploma level, this
can be demonstrated via the following:
• Any of the following:
• Completion of Year 12 or the equivalent level of study
• Mature age entry > 21 years of age
• Minimum English level of IELTS 5.5. Candidates originating
from student visa assessment levels 1 and 2 without
the required IELTS score can undertake SCEI’s English
