Another Math Win for Grass Valley
Fourth-Grade Math Team Takes Second Place
On April 20, the Math is Cool team from Grass
Valley notched an awesome second-place finish at
the annual regional competition. Joy Young placed
fourth individually overall.
From left to right: Mia Holman, Taylor Redmond, Vivian
Barnard, Maddie McArthur, Andrew deLeon, Claire
McOmie, Joy Young, Tara Hansen, and Baden Currie. Started this year by parent Roger Young, who
admired the Evergreen School District’s rendition,
the extracurricular Math is Cool program brings
together Grass Valley fourth-grade students for a
unique months-long learning opportunity that
culminates in a team competition as well as
individual assessment. Several dedicated parents
took part in working with the students each week in
preparation for the big event.
Next week the team will find out if it has qualified
to attend the state-level masters
competition. Great job, kids & parents!
To get involved, contact Roger Young at
[email protected].
