Betsy Walters Director of Awards and Operations, CINE Betsy Walters is the Director of Awards and Operations of CINE, the Washington, DCbased organization that has honored the best in professional, independent and student media with the prestigious CINE Golden Eagle Award since 1957. Betsy began her career at CINE while still a student at The George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs, graduating with honors in 2004 with a degree in Electronic Media. She succeeded Bruce Bucklin as CINE Director of Competitions in 2007 after a triumphant coup — fine, he retired — assuming management of CINE’s awards programs and contests. Betsy’s responsibilities were later expanded to include CINE’s daytoday oversight. Betsy has participated in several programs on industry awards and festivals and represented CINE and its awardwinning filmmakers at industry events such as the Tribeca Film Festival, Julien Dubuque International Film Festival, AFIDOCS, New Hampshire Film Festival, DC Shorts and the University Film and Video Association Conference. A native of New Hampshire, Betsy now lives in Washington, DC, where she can walk to multiple movie theaters or stay home and bingewatch TV. Either way, she tells people it’s “occupational research.”
