The Neuroethics Studies Program of the Pellegrino Center for Clinical Bioethics at
Georgetown University Medical Center, in conjunction with the
Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues presents...
MINDING GRAY MAT TERS
Neuroethics, the BRAIN Initiative and Beyond
Neuroscience, and the Brain Research
through Advancing Innovative
Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative
launched by the Obama Administration
give rise to three critical ethical
issues: the capacity for consent,
questions of cognitive enhancement,
and the use – and misuse – of
neuroscience in the legal system.
These issues were highlighted in a
recent report from the Presidential
Commission for the Study of
Bioethical Issues (PCSBI) titled Gray
Matters: Topics at the Intersection of
Neuroscience, Ethics, and Society.
Please join us for a half day series
of panel discussions that address
these issues, recommendations
of the PCSBI and the current and
future state of brain science.
With a wine and cheese
reception to follow.
