Southern Chiefs’ Organization Employment Opportunity HEALTH RESEARCH & ENGAGEMENT LIASON The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) requires a Health Research & Engagement Liaison for a term position until March 31, 2016. MAIN FUNCTION: as a member of SCO the Health Research & Engagement Liaison will provide service related to advocacy, advisory, communications, policy development, research, Non-Insured Health Benefits and knowledge transfer matters. EDUCATION: Minimum relevant Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Native Studies, health related or relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years working in the health care field Minimum of three years’ experience in research and analysis of policy and legislation Preparing written summaries and recommendations on complex health issues Writing of reports, briefing notes, speaking notes and media releases Experience working with First Nations Demonstrated knowledge of policy and issues relating specifically to First Nations Health Services Experience conducting literature reviews and environmental scans Ability to analyze information, think strategically and develop creative and innovative solutions KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge and awareness of Aboriginal culture and traditional healing practices Experience in preparing proposals and communications is an asset Knowledge of Aboriginal research paradigms Training and proficiency in the use of computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to build upon new and existing relationships with stakeholders Ability to speak one of the Southern First Nations dialect is an asset Suitable SCO member First Nation candidates will be given preference Must have a valid class 5 Manitoba drivers’ license and own vehicle Must be willing to travel CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATION IS April 24, 2015 Please submit cover letters, resume & three (3) work related references to: Receptionist Southern Chiefs’ Organization 105-1555 St. James Street Winnipeg, Manitoba R3H 1B5 Fax: (204) 946-1871 [email protected] Re: Health Research & Engagement Liaison We thank all who apply and advise that only those selected will be contracted for further consideration.
